Dyno Run
As you can see from my signature, I have a few performance MODS now and I am looking forward to finding out my final BHP figures. My last Dyno run was 325BHP when I had the Forge FMIC fitted, now I have had the BMW performance upgrade I will be running more........but how much ? that's the question.........anyone want to run a sweepstake ?
Now I am hoping for 350BHP but realistically I recon between 340 and 350, but then again who knows what the BMW PP will return working with my other mods, I may even make over 350BHP The Dyno run is booked for Friday 19th Feb So here we go..... I say 348BHP anyone else fancy a guess ?

I dont know if you guys dyno differently, but in the US there is BHP- engine HP(as measured by the factory) and RWHP(rear wheel HP) is power measured at the rear wheels(obviously) on a dyno. Just wondering.

We get an "estimated" BHP at the fly by calculations made for loss in drive train. We can get RWHP too, but rareley does anyone refer to that over here. The Fly calculation are usualy quite accurate. Mine when stock Dyno'd at 310.5BHP....they did tell what it was at the wheels but a struggle to remember.....does 278 sound in the right area ? it was almost 2 years ago and it seems to ring a bell

Im more accustomed to dynos in the Corvette world(should apply thereabouts to our BMW's as well). You take the RWHP(as per dyno #) and add approx 15% with a Standard transmission and add 17-18% for an auto to calculate BHP . From what Ive read about here there might be less of a loss with the BMW auto. Using those calculations 278rwhp + 15%=319BHP which I understand is a strong running stock 135i. |

It will also depend on what kind of dyno you're running on ie dynojet, dynodynamics, mustang dyno etc...
I ran my car on a dynodynamics which is notorious for generating lower numbers. I believe the dynojet is the kindest to our horsepower egos. I put down 250whp and about 300wtq stock. The dyno's flywheel conversion read that at 314hp and 340tq. I'll have to scan the dyno sheet soon. Here's a video of my stock car on the dynodynmics: My guess is you run will run 340bhp! BMW's mods are typically conservative. lol... |

I hope not.........6BHP for the upgrade would be very very very dissapointing......I can "feel" a very noticable difference but it's your guess
