My DME/ECU were lost

Hi, I'm new to this forum and I'm looking for some help. I have a 2019 M850i. I sent my DME from Nevada to Illinois to get bench unlocked. I shipped UPS next day air last Wednesday with $2500 insurance and requested a signature. But it has no tracking update since it departs from Nevada. I have already filed a claim with UPS. I'm not sure if they could possibly trace it back.
Does anyone know if they are actually lost, what should i do? And how much if I have to get a new DME and match with my car?

Its highly unlikely its lost. I would get on the phone with UPS and get a manager involved to help you.

This has happened to me I ship 1000's of packages around the USA monthly and use FedEx for my business. Rarely do we ever have packages completely lost in 20 years only a couple times.

Most times it will pop back up, get a hold of someone in charge.

We always include Apple Airtags with our DME/Femto shipments as an extra precaution and real-time tracking.

Dude are you saying you shipped it and because nothing moved yet you assume it is stolen? How long has it not moved for?

Thanks for letting me know, i have called ups couple times. I will try to go the ups store i sent the package to see if I can get a manager involved to help.

I've had a package go into the black hole facility in Louisville and disappear for days. As was explained to me it is a new hub and they are having a lot of growing pains. Give it a little time but definitely get a manager involved.

There has been many delays due to storms rolling through the Midwest. It will show up. Now if you sent via USPS, then I would really worry.

You "requested" next day shipping. That is not a guarantee. As others noted, major storms rolled through much of the Midwest during the time you shipped. It will delay things. Your package will show up.

This is undoubtedly is a huge inconvenience though. You do have a good argument for some sort of a partial refund.

Oh ok I don't think it's lost yet either. I would wait or call them to know what is going on, you said you called them but not telling us what they did. That said man I would not be happy to pay for expensive next day shipping and not get it.

Per UPS website it's supposed to be guaranteed shipment next day delivery. I think OP can recover costs.

So they told me they have filed the claim and trace it. And they will refund the shipping cost for sure.

I'm sure there's some fine print telling you that guaranteed next day delivery is not really guaranteed, it's called force majeure!!

So 4 weeks after it was dropped it off it's still delayed, could be the truck was in a collision, fire or it was robbed. They should tell you why, either that or keeping quiet at first is their policy.

This exact thing just happened to me. Sent my DME to Dinan and ups lost it. Like a dummy I didn’t think to get proper insurance. I have no idea how to resolve this other than buying a new one for $2500 then towing the car to the dealer to have it programmed. \

Does anyone know if anyone can bench program a dme to my VIN? I know with GM you can through Techline Connect but didn’t know if BMW allows that.

How did you ever resolve this issue?
