I used to be a huge Infiniti fan especially when they made great cars in the 90's and early to late 2000's. Johan de Nysschen stepping in as the CEO in 2012 really made the brand suffer.

Well, someone should build a sports sedan with a manual gearbox and not have to have a $100,000 M-badge on it...

The "new Z" is on the FM chassis
Which is shared with the Q50 , and the 370 and the G37 and the 350 and the G35 That's how far they go back The Akebonos brakes on the New Z can be installed and bolt on the 2003 350z |

Fun fact, you can buy this car now. It's the Q50 S Red Sport 400. They're cheap. And the "new" one coming in 27 is gonna be basically the same car. |

Like others here, I'd love to see this pan out. I'm supposedly what Infiniti wants to for this car's market. Infiniti had a vision to be the Japanese BMW. They had some vehicles for that vision but lost their way.
I've always been a big Infiniti fan owning a manual G20, a beautiful red G37xS that almost made it to 200K miles before it was totaled in my daughter's college parking lot, and a not so beautiful but very functional QX56 that made it to 175K before sacrificing itself for me and my son by a numskull who ran a red light at 55 MPH. |

One of the nicest cars that has was a 2006 G35 with the aero package, that car drove beautifully, it went downhill from there

Nissan (Infiniti included) has a lot more problems than just a lack of a 6-speed. They already offer the Z in 6-speed, with limited sales. As others have stated, Q50 will be a reskinned Z. Bottom line, nothing to see here. Nissan/Infiniti are done, sooner or later.

People are sadly.du.b and repeat the same crap that dumb auto journalists with no background or understanding of engineering say.
Fundamentally, the new Z is great. Yes the underlying FM platform is over 20 years old, but it was also like 15 years ahead of its time. The problem with the Z is 3 fold. 1) Nissan dealers excessively gouged on prices for them when introduced, so people wrote them off 2) 400hp isn't much anymore. You can buy a basically 500hp mustang with a backseat for the same money. 3) They're just not affordable for young people anymore. They're more expensive and cost of living has gone way up. When the 350z came out it was affordable enough for young guys to afford without a great job. Not so much anymore. |

if they put the 6-speed with the TTV6, i'd have to seriously consider trading my genesis for it.
I love my g70 and bought it over the q50, but the top trims never seem to get the manual option.

Looking at the G37 manuals, they don't seem to be collectables. I don't think any Infiniti models are collectables. If any manual should be a collectable, it should be my F13 M6 manuals, but even those are worth less that 40% of MSRP. They are the last true manual transmissions ever produced...literally (RWD, hydraulic steering, V8, looks awesome, etc).
