Exclamation 2026 911 Turbo S [992.2]

Yes. It is as Special as you imagine it would be!

2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S Goes Hybrid and Now Makes 701 HP

Quote:
The 2026 Porsche 911 Turbo S becomes the second 992.2-generation model to adopt a hybrid powertrain, following the 911 GTS.
Unlike the single-turbo GTS, the Turbo S's T-Hybrid system has two e-turbos, and its output climbs by 61 horsepower compared with the previous model.
The new 911 Turbo S is priced at $272,650 for the coupe and $286,650 for the cabriolet; both body styles will go on sale sometime next spring.
The latest 911 Turbo S doesn't practice incrementalism. The top dog in Porsche's most important model line, the new 992.2-gen Turbo S embraces electrification for the first time. As a result, it makes outsized gains in performance. As proof of the latter, just look at its Nürbürgring Nordschleife lap time. At 7:03.92, it's an incredible 14 seconds faster than the old car. Now boasting 701 horsepower, the all-wheel-drive Turbo S blasts to 60 mph 0.2-second quicker according to Porsche, which would put it at 2.0 seconds even based on our 2.2-second result with the 640-hp outgoing Turbo S. Top speed is a claimed 200 mph.

I've grown to really like 991 Turbo Ss, but my gosh, why are they over 1/4 of a million dollars?

Couldn't agree more. I will always appreciate the performance and heritage. I will always not appreciate the archaic, non inviting interior for this price point, nor the identical styling of lesser versions for a $100k less.
But hey, I guess that's why Porsche makes more profit per sale of any mass production vehicle. Over $20k+. Folks are willing to pay.
And once you option this car correctly, you're @ $300k.

Yup, the new Turbos are just getting too expensive. If you ask me the 911 4S/S is the sweet spot. I think it has the best performance/price balance.

Too much money for a Porsche. Especially if you don't get it as a 2+2. May as well just buy a real exotic, or something crazy fast like a ZR1X.

A turbo S is now a $325-350k car. A super loaded 2019 was $245k. Insane.

Gorgeous and perfect, but staggeringly expensive. 350K out the door is the likely outcome. 911's have become absurdly expensive.

Impressive ring time.

What parts bin do the hybrid bits and pieces come from? The rear engine means the entire powertrain isn't lifted out of an Audi or VW. Is the electric motor or battery architecture used on a VW ID or Audi eTron variant?

Meh.

The Turbo is by far the most dangerous to drive of the 911 lineup...because of the risk of falling asleep behind the wheel. They are painfully boring.

Wild that a car that is 10 inches shorter in length, narrower in width and shorter in height than a M3/4 weighs nearly as much as an M3/4 Xdrive (within 50-60 lbs) and you can be sure it will weight more when magazines weigh it. My guess is it's 3880-3910 once actually weighed. 911s are no longer light cars - even the base 992.2 weighs 3500 lbs (C&D got 3492 lbs on a lightly optioned car).

I'm a 911 guy (still own one) but my thoughts:

Car is basically now an uptuned GTS with twin turbos vs the single hybrid turbo. It's a 325-350K with options and tax assuming you're not paying a 50-75K ADM which would put it well into the 400K range. Sorry, but not worth anywhere near 350-400K. For that money, you can go buy a used SF90 or for less a 296 GTB, or any number of Mclarens, Lambos, etc.

So a sunroof option (anyone remember them) is out of the question then with the weight and huge price tag and lets remember there are no discounts from Stuttgart, not even a free first service if my memory serves me well.

Before Covid you could get a brand new turbo S with $210k sticker for $175k. Crazy times.

Harry got 3747 pounds with the new GTS. Fast as shite, but idk man. No more manual, piggy-lite and 200k+. Can't blame Porsche however. People scoop up every 911.

New T is my choice. Without track availability the manual GT3 is a waste, imo.
The T hitting 121mph in 3rd needs engineering attention... PLEASE.
Saw a Cabriolet T for sale now with msrp of 193k.

Maybe the seller of the eBay turbo kit you bought can help you…. Seriously, if this is a real post, you are in over your head. A good tuner will remap the ECU for a single pre cat O2 and simulate the rear O2. Custom exhaust work and a Y pipe can get you from the turbo to dual exhaust but many just go single all the way back. Without a tune that retards timing under the load created by the boost and larger injectors with fuel remapping you are heading for trouble fast.

Not many here who can or will help you. Probably a Facebook group will have more young people doing stuff like this. I like it, but am probably an exception here — I have a 1999 M3 that I first supercharged and later turbocharged and it is a lot of fun but I also had to learn a lot.

Love the car... but think the price point is absolutely wild... what exactly makes this $100k more expensive than a Carrera 4S? An engine? alright...

Is there any other brand that can successfully get away with this?

It is gorgeous, but if anything the weight and price is making older Porsches look more appealing.
