A good friend had a 2019 Range Rover Sport with the 5.0 SCd V8. He bought it a couple of years old. In early 2024, the engine blew (timing issue i believe). Used engines were difficult to find and the long block was big money. Either way, he was looking at a $20-25k repair bill. He sold it as a roller and lost about $35k over what he paid in 2022. He's a sucker for automotive punishment as he likes Rovers, Audis. and Jeeps. Not sure you could do any worse in choosing the most unreliable brands to buy from. Every car he's bought from these brands have had eyewatering repair bills and the cars he's bought were in great shape and maintained.

I am a bit of a sucker for the actual proper Range ROver, especially the new one. It is peerless in it's execution as a classy, comfortable, sytlish large SUV, the Germans do a horrible gaudy job at this part of the market.
