Thoughts on K&P "Lifetime" Stainless Steel Oil Filters
Saw these pop up on ECS recently and they seem pretty interesting. After doing a bit of research it seems like its the same deal as K&N filters, some people swear by them, while others think they hurt you more than they help. Saw claims of oil temps running 20F cooler, and others of increased metallic bits on magnetic drain plugs.
Has anyone tried running one of these? This seems like a "if it ain't broke" kind of situation to me. I'm wary of messing with something as important as the oil filter. It also seems like more trouble than its worth considering the O rings will likely still need to be changed out, and at that point you might as well just change the whole filter, which defeats the purpose. |
