TBH, I think it's the same as much of this BMW life, people just blindly go with the newest parts because they assume they are best. Years back, before 12's where out, the old injectors did just fine and made the same power as the top of the line 12's.

Far as what 12's came stock in, Maybe the 1M or Z. It's the only N54's that came out after my car. I have a feb '10 car which is the last of them. I wish I knew how close to the end mine is.

I noticed there's a basket filter in my 11's. I tried to pick it out, no dice. It's in there tighter than I felt like playing with. But if they are anything like port injectors, I'm sure they get dirty and need servicing over time.
I keep dragging my feet about buying a ultrasonic cleaner and tossing them in to see what it does. ... there's a lot of things I'm dragging my feet on though.
Go to the mall and use the jewelry stores ultrasonic cleaners.

So this sounds like an N54 problem? I've got an N55 but one of the first as it's an Oct 2010 build. Anyways, I need to do more research anyways.
I'm wondering the same thing... my Born on date is 09-30-2010. I wonder how we could find out what number we are in sequence?

Excuse the dirty pics. Finally got my Koni yellows and Dinan springs installed. SUPER happy with the ride quality and the very mild drop. Didn't wanna go much lower to be honest. Next step is spacers and a fender roll

I'll give it a wash and take decent pics this weekend

Started getting battery warnings so replaced the 60lb monster with an OPTIMA D35, which is 36lb. Got the bimmerworld mounting bracket half off, and a rebate for the battery made it somewhat reasonable.

Wasn't in the mood to deal with NCSExpert, and from looking around, it wasn't clear to me how to code a 46Ah AGM battery, so I just sucked it up and bought a year of Carly just to code the battery. Wasn't cheap, but did the job quickly and easily. I'll have to read back my CAS module now to see what the options are, maybe it'll save a few bucks for someone else.

Seems like you're spending more time working/modding the car than actually driving it...
It's "daily driven" being that it's my only car. I do work from home a lot but it definitely gets driven. today marks a year since I got it. 2008 with 31k miles. a year later it has 43k.

But, speaking of modding and not driving it lol we've had it in the shop the last couple days getting the new rear air setup finished and dialed in. So much better. Pics of aired out, 60psi and 110psi. I couldn't get that much lift out of the other setup even at 180psi. Should ride a lot nicer at the lower air pressure. Wheels fit nicely although I'm looking to have new wheels built. Here's a front shot too since that got put on this weekend. Still needs adjusting on the panels which I'll tackle this weekend

That tucks-up nicely. I've said this before; I cannot wait until the "final" product! We don't see too many stanced 1'ers around here...

Thanks! I'm excited to see it "finished" too. Or at least just bodywork done and in the new color. Still lots to do after that but it'll be nice to "see" progress that big. Definitely not as much stance as some of them out there and far less than my previous car but it should sit pretty nice

That's what I love about your build; it isn't too stance-y (for my tastes). It'll look great, but it also looks like it'll be (mostly) usable, too.

Over the last week I did the following:

radiator
water pump
thermostat
upper and lower radiator hoses
cylinder head coolant line
inlet hose
and the following VRSF parts
turbo outlet pipe
5" steeped intercooler
lower charge pipe
upper charge pipe
high flow catted downpipe(I might have to swap back to stock, if I can't get this to pass smog)

Once I figure out if I can pass smog with the down pipe, I'll be flashing MHD stage 1+ or stage 2.

Öhlins are here! I'm so stoked on these; they're absolutely beautiful, and have that wonderful metallic smell to them. They are standard E82 shocks with Öhlins' 1M valving specs. The springs are all Swift springs; 70N/mm front and 160N/mm rear. All for the lovely price of $2225. Massive shout-out to Barry at 3DM Motorsports for pairing me up and for the upgrades. I cannot wait to get these installed!

When I do the installation, I'll also be replacing my tie rods (inner and outer) and steering rack boots, and installing F30 brake dust shields to protect these beauties from heat and dust alike. It'll all be tied-together by a trip to RRT Racing for a corner balance and proper alignment.

Hmmm, why not just cut out the "vents" so that they're actual, useful vents?

So, the story goes, BMW tried that and were not happy with many aspects of the opened up fenders. They canned the idea when they couldn't get it figured out in time for production and thus we have closed "vents".

I did think about actually opening them up and I might down the road. Just wasn't ready to cut into $1k fenders right now lol
