Steering Wheel Trim Fix

My 135i had the steering wheel trim peeling so removed it and used some nail polish remover to try remove the paint but it ended up damaging the plastic instead. I think it's because I didn't use the acetone free one.

Any ideas on how I can fix this so that I can still wrap it with vinyl? Thanks

Did it actually damage the plastic or just remove the coating?

I used a high grit sand paper to make it flat enough to vinyl wrap then just vinyl wrapped it matte black
