i really can't understand WHY they would call this the "M235i Racing"....and it makes me wonder if there really is even an M2 in the works or not. For example, when the E30 M3 production version came out, it was parallel to the E30 M3 DTM racing car......so will there really be an M2?

Honestly, it upsets me.....this is what the M235i should be not the Active Suspension, fake sound, leatherette-only, NAV-screen-in-the-field-of-view crap they are sending over here!
I hope they M2 is like this...if so, BMW will get their Ultimate Driving Machine credentials back in my book! |

FYI.......I emailed the contact on the flyer asking to purchase one for the track....here's the response I received...
"We cannot confirm when the car will be available for the US. We are working on that topic but I suppose it wont happen before 2015." Kind regards

The only downside is that it's automatic but this is one instance that if it's a real ///M whatever car, I would actually consider the automatic much like you can only get an automatic ferrari. BMW needs to produce Halo weekend track/autocross cars to maintain their credibility in my opinion. This is a great start. I remember you used to be able to buy a special camaro with aluminum driveshaft and no options for club racers in the 90s. Honda had the S2000 club racer, etc. Frankly, I understand that most people want these bloated luxo boxes with an ///M badge. My frustration comes from the fact that you can't get focused cars anymore. When I autocross the first thing I do is get the mirror out of the way for best visibility, now BMW puts this big screen right in your field of view for the gadget crowd. Last year, you could order a car with no nav and get a clean unobstructed dash. Now you can't! Every car has this big screen in the your field of view and no option to remove it! US M235i only come with leatherette and active suspension. No option to get fixed manly suspension or cloth/alcantara. yes, you can buy coilovers and deal with suspension warning lights BUT you are supposedly buying a car tuned by M experts at the ring! So bottom line, this is super exciting and I hope they bring it to the US and make it street legal much like the Laguna Seca Mustang Boss! This would make me sooooooooo happy!!!!! BMW are you listening??? |

not really comparable...as the M235i has the frankly ordinary ZF automatic gearbox......and does not have a DCT (dual clutch) gearbox like a Ferrari has. No, all automatic gearboxes are NOT the same.

Do you guys get that this is a production race car and not meant for street use or typical customer purchase? It's not an m2 because it's not an m2, and the relation to the e30 m3 is not relevant. We are in a totally different time of how BMW ///Markets their cars.
Here is what we take from this (unless you own a race team): the eventual m2 is going to look great.

Well then I say congrats to you for being in position to spend this sort of $ on a car that can only be used on the track. That is my dream!!!
