Recommended wheel setup for square 245's? NASA TT5
Hello! I just recently picked up a 2008 128i 6MT that I plan on prepping for NASA TT5. I believe the tire width restrictions for the class are 266mm measured, so it looks like most 245 wide tires will fit this bill. As such, I think I'll be running some flavor of 245's.
I don't mind rolling fenders and will be running some type of camber plates. I'm not sure what my alignment will look like (I'm assuming somewhere in the range of -2.5 degrees or more of camber?). Basically I would like to fit the widest tires possible within the class limits, preferably on a set of wheels that will give the greatest amount of grip. My assumption is that a 245 tire would work best on a 9.5" wheel, assuming it'll still be under the 266mm limit? Any recommendations based on experience? Specific offsets I should be looking for? Or better yet, specific wheels that are known to work well for this application? Any recommendations on diameter- 17" vs 18"? What kind of work am I going to need to run a competitive wheel/tire setup? Any insight is greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

9" is the largest you'll manage to make work all around. This should answer any questions you have on fitment:

Can you change hubs? You'll definitely want E9x rear hubs if you can. Then you can run 17x9 et42ish all the way around with minimal spacer. Perfect for a 245 if you ask me.
Front camber will want to be more than 3 degrees negative for performance. I run -3.5F and -2.5R. |
