That is very thirsty indeed my fully tuned 335i gets 11.8 to 12.7 all of city central driving which is not bad for just on 400bhp and that's in DS mode and using the paddles all the time.

Yup I'm not surprised at all. As a 135 owner I've been getting 13-14L/100km consistently on all the major 98RON brands including BP/Votex/V-power. I've tried everything and the lowest I've ever gotten to is 12.5L/100km with nanny driving. Now I've just had my HPFP replaced under warranty and the software was updated. It's getting worse now with 15L/100km.
Anyone have any suggestions or is this quite usual for 135's running 98RON?? This is a faily even mix between highway and city driving. |

Before the tune it was getting average of 10.7 to 11.5 all the time in city driving. Their does seem to be a lot a discrepancies as if our fuel economy is not accurate.

I've been very curious on this subject too since replacing e46 330ci 6MT with new 125i 6MT. Same general trips and more awareness of consumption (even paying some attention to the shift lights). Both generally using Caltex 95.

My N54 335i Manual is 10.4 L/100km.
I only feed it with 98 ever since it left the showroom. Does it mean I drive like a grandma?

Just slightly hijacking this thread, but whilst on the topic of fuel consumption, how large is the reserve tank? I think our fuel tank is 50L for the 135i correct? I noticed yesterday that I went below empty and was driving around with -- as my km-to-zero reading for about 15 minutes (I know, I know... but I had a voucher and like my usual petrol station and don't trust dodgy independents that were the only stations near to me when I needed to refuel). I topped up 51.5 litres at the pump. So I am guessing reserve ~8L???
Anyone have any better information? |

Never been below 14.5L/100km in 19K - 90% city driving, majority of which has been short trips. I don't think I drive that aggressively - I must have a hole in the tank based on the numbers posted by others.
Just had the gearbox replaced, done 300km since all under 3000rpm (observing break-in procedures super rigidly this time), and showing 15.3L/100km. Go figure. |

^^The 135i has a 55 liter tank.
I think when the low fuel light comes on you have 8 liters left. Normally I fill up before the light just comes on... and I put 45 to 48 liters in. I don't like to run the tank too low. |

Reserve tank? This isn't a motorbike. 53 litre tank I thought.

So as not to start yet another fuel thread, I thought I'd post some Easter consumption figures:
Took little Eastern German noddy car to Mexico over Easter and was somewhat surprised by fuel consumption: Syd -----> Doncaster 8.5 l/100: Ave speed 102kmh (cruise control set @ 117kmh all the way on Hume - no fuel conservation techniques) Round trip (including Yarra valley visit and return via Hothham) 8.7l/100. Total trip roughly 2500km |

Update: I'm getting around 9.4L/100 kms on my 135i. It has the N55 engine, mainly driving through peak hour traffic up and down Springvale Road. Only ever used BP Ultimate =)
And yes, I do get off the line in a spirited fashion. Efficient dynamics isn't just a slogan, in my personal experiences anyway... |
