I don't think it is, as my car had a sudden loss of power when it failed. BMW think otherwise...

< 30c ambient, no probs. > 30c ambient, stalls every traffic light, then starts straight away. Lumpy, lumpy idle. East German car main dealer has reflashed ECU twice, but with no effect. Spangley ponders next purchase (looks to the rising sun) |

If you are heading no.5, I think something else is causing the HPFP failure on your car - may be the LPFP is not functioning? No one has that many failures and may be they are not seeing something.

Get it replaced ASAP. Not good as you'll put pressure on other vital engine components. I'm still on my factory HPFP even with the occasional ethanol/alky mix. My luck it's gonna S!!T itself in the next week.

I have had one replaced however my second seems to be holding (touch wood) my car would be well and truly gone before my 5th pump...I love these cars, but not that much.

Has two replacements. Tried to delay the second replacement, but a struggled to leave home some mornings as the car was throwing engine check lights like crazy. Most importantly you loose a considerable amount of performance with a bad HPFP, that you don't notice/realise until it is replaced.
