After Market Shocks
Is there anyone that can point me to some good after market Shocks (hopefully on the stiffer end)?

There isn't one set that will suit everyone's needs.
Please provide some more colour on what you're looking for, and what you intend to do with the car. What springs will you be running for these stiffer shocks? What has been done to the suspension already? Track? Daily? Mix? What's your commute like? etc etc. |

Grab some Konis or Billys. Hear good things about Konis + springs. No idea if they are well suited with H&R springs though.

H&Rs are progressive IIRC, and will pair nicely with some Koni Sports for a street setup and occasional DE/track day.
Bilstein Sports also work well but some people don't like their default damping curves - they can be a bit harsher if your local roads have a lot of small sharp bumps. Konis seem to smooth those smaller sharper bumps better. Bilsteins have great body control when bumps get bigger/faster...so it's a matter of preference. Oh - the Konis are adjustable (easy on the front, have to remove them on the rear unless you get some custom applications that have external adjusters). Bilsteins are not adjustable unless you're going for a PSS10 coilover. HTH |

Have about 200mi on a new set of Koni Spl Active rear shocks. Strictly a street daily driver, but at 70K was an immediate improvement at both ends of travel. Much less harsh over samller bumps & dips and doesn't bottom on larger bumps & dips, plus smoother feeling overall. Will go ahead with the fronts now that the rears have worked so well.

Ohlins FTW. There was a used set for sale in the classifieds the other day.

Given that you're going with stiffer than stock springs, I'd avoid the Koni Special Actives, though they are interesting solution. From my perspective the alternatives are Koni yellows, or Bilstein - if it were my decision, it would be Bilstein B8s.

Believe it or not, BC BR series coilovers come with some pretty stiff damping. Even on full soft they are stiffer than several other suspensions I've had my hands on.

My son had the BC coilovers on his E46. Said they were VERY hard riding on city streets. But all was forgiven hitting freeway on ramps.

So I think my Front right just went. It's sitting slightly lower that the other. Is this a sign of shock failure?

More likely the rubber in the mounts or hat had fatigued as mentioned above, or the spring is sagging. Blown damper would have other symptoms.
