Do you have Carly? You can code the comfort access functionality with Carly (as I recall). Previous owner may have made changes that switched off or miscoded certain functions. It would also show if any codes are thrown from any of the CA modules. I'd definitely start there before shelling out $400 for a new key.

question what is carly? and where is the CA module located just wondering if unplgging and replugging would reset it an see if the module itself is gone

my 135i when i bought it worked with passanger door and the keyles start but the trunk and driver door never worked but recently everything stopped working now its a hassle to put the key in like normal now ive been spoiled and getting annoyed
