Perfect BMW Service
Just wanted to praise my local BMW dealer in Morristown, NJ.
Just 3 days before end of my warranty I got them to: Replace the convertible top Replace the inner roof liner Replace the dashboard Replace the Leather on the driver seat all covered under warranty, and all denied at Orange County BMW, NY. They got me as a customer for life.

They literally told me the top would only be replaced if there would be a hole in it, not because it is worn thin. After calling BMW North America I was told it is up to the dealers and I should try a different one, great advise (in a good and bad way) I would have thought BMW NA would take it on directly to decide.

Because of the airbag pushing through it. It will probably appear again after a while, but I have seen some 2009 1 series without that problem.

Interesting that they replaced that for you. I remember reading the TSB a while back, and it specifically says to not replace dashboards for the airbag showing through issue, as there is nothing that can be done, and it can/will come back. Lucky that you were able to get yours replaced though.

How many days was your car in the shop to put a new top on.
Mine is already in for two weeks and not done yet.

This is repetitive but my last top replacement was done in a day. I did not bring it in until they had the parts and then I had the car back 24 hours later. If you are waiting much longer than this, I believe it is due to not having the parts. I've also replaced a top in a Fiat 124 and it took me less than a day. It was a simpler top but it is still not a terribly involved process.

I waited until they had all parts needed, got a loaner for 2 days and everything is like new. Still waiting for the arrival of the dash and the seat cover though.

I am aware it will probably come back, but maybe it takes more than 2 Years when I plan to sell the car.
