New to the Forums

Wish there was an "Introductions" Forum, so I hope this is the appropriate forum to post in. This is a bit about me and my journey towards the 135i.

Just ordered my 135i yesterday, the invoice at the time had code 112 on it.

It'll be Alpine White with a black interior and high gloss black trim (probably going to re-do the trim with carbon fiber; the 1 Series Accessory book made it look sexy).

I didn't add a lot in terms of options and accessories. I just added:
Comfort Access (Open door, no key required. Push button start, no key required)
Power Front Seats (thinking on it now, probably not needed)
BMW Assist (more for the Bluetooth capability than the safety addition, but added safety is always a plus)
Premium Hi-Fi (man, do I love music, and if anything can make it sound better then I'm getting it)
iPod and USB Adapter (did I mention I love music?)

And that's pretty much it. In the past, I've modified little rice-rockets and had lots of fun. This car however, will remain basically as stock as can be. One thing I've learned over the years of modifying cars is the more mods you put on, the more problems that come up; and fewer ways to fix it.

Anyway, I hope to have a lot of fun on this forum, meet other 1Addicts, and learn a lot about the 135i that I've finally decided on after long debates in my head about which car to get. I knew I wanted a turbo rear-wheel drive with more power than a four-banger.

Other cars considered:
Lancer Evo (Really, this was the only "competitor" for the 135i; but it is kind of a different kind of beast. Ultimately, I decided not to get it because of the attention it would draw)
G37 (The exhaust note on this car sounds so nice. It drove nicely, had a nice interior and the back seats were just as cramped as they are on the 1. It just wasn't turbo charged)
WRX STi (Fun to drive, sounds like a beast. Gas mileage plus high gas prices turned me away, as well as the attention it grabs)
335 (Another BMW. Larger seating room, a larger car. I was looking through the brochure last night and was hoping I had made the right decision on the 1 (the 3 looks great!). I actually chose the 1 because I liked the way it looked over the 3, though I know my point of view on this is the minority.)

Finally though, it was the 135i that got me. It was what I was looking for, rear-wheel drive and turbo-charged.

Well, thanks for reading. I know it was long. Nice meeting you all.

Welcome to the forums! Also congrats on ordering the new 135i. I would highly suggest the Sports package. The seats included with it are pure sex.

The G37 does have an amazing exhaust sound. I never thought I'd hear a 6 cyl exhaust as sweet as the G35, but then I heard the G37... That's the one area that the 1 can't compete with the G. But great choice on your car; you'll love it!

Pics of your ITR or Ban! Kidding... I had a JDM conversion '00 ITR and sometimes miss it. Though my girlfriend wouldn't be caught dead in it (she says), I'd love to still have it in addition to the 135.

Welcome aboard. I think you'll enjoy the torque and RWD. I do.

Welcome, dude. You will like it here. Browsing these forums will help kill time until delivery date; plenty of good knowledge to absorb - and great folks to swap stories with.

re. 135 vs 335... No worries. You made the right choice. Nuff said.

I hope so, I can't wait. Fortunately, other than the forums I have a 50 hour work week that keeps me pretty busy.

As for the sport package, I didn't forget, I just had to make some harsh decisions on money management.

Great pics! Thanks for sharing... I always loved the Championship White, especially with JDM conversion.

Mega Man welcome on board. If you haven't already noticed, there is a strong recommendation on this forum for the sport package. I'd trade the power seats for the sport package. Your dealer can change the order up to the point it actually starts production. But in the end, it all comes down to what you are happy with, and only you have that answer. I've been driving it for 5 months now, and I'm still looking for excuses to go somewhere - like maybe we're low on milk again.

Yeah, the sport package decision keeps me up at night...tossing 'n' turning in bed. I keep thinking get the sport package...

It doesn't matter now though, 112 status went to 150 like yesterday.

*sigh* The tough decisions of life!

Life is good - my wife just took delivery of her new 135i convertible

Hi All,
For a Happy birthday to my wife, she received a new sparkling graphite 135i convertible with premium & cold weather packages. Oh and this Wed. she is having sat radio installed. Her 135i is replacing her 05 328xi which she loved but she thought the 135i would be easier and more fun to drive. It is a zippy little thing. I think she may miss the awd of the xi but maybe the "dtc" will help a bit when the snows hits. Also, I can't get the chirp when she locks the doors so I'm thinking I must add an alarm to get that feature. :iono: All in all, this is a great little car that makes a great gift!!! And this seems to be a cool :w00t: site too!!! I would like to add a photo or to also, so if anyone could help me with that, I'm thanking you in advance.

My car is about 12-15 days away! 12 days til it gets to port, 2-3 days additionally to arrive at the dealership (14-15 days total)!

Every day when I'm at work...I just keep thinking new car soon, new car soon! I just don't know how to contain my excitement! I look at the calendar waaaaay to much now.

I guess a downside to this, is that Christmas gifts just won't seem as nice after getting a car just before Christmas!
