1M Trailering...

Ordered a new enclosed car hauler and have been looking at ways to secure the car to the deck.

Anyone have experience here? Esp. the track guys?

The 1M is so fun I'm sure most people drive to the track, but someone must have had to secure it on a trailer.

I've read about the available T-Hooks (Pierce Arrow) that attach in the holes for the Jack Pads, and it sounds good (Used on E36/E46).

Any trailering advice, let me know. I'm not prepared to put straps around the delicate aluminum control arms, etc...

I've seen a type of ratchet strap that is sort of a webbed design that goes around the entire tire. That way no tension on the suspension bits. Have no idea where to find them.

Roll your enclosed trailer with wheel straps and best case scenario the entire suspension is completely trashed and likely one side of the car is smashed up.

Roll an enclosed trailer using t-hooks and best case scenario all you'll need to do is clean up some oil that leaked out the top of the oil cap.

Food for thought.

Here is the trailer that I ordered a couple of months ago from Proline Products LLC. in Milton, New Hampshire. It is an 8.5 X 18 Car Hauler with a few extra options. It fits the 1M perfectly, and doubles as a trailer when I want to go comping on the weekends.

It's fully insulated with Silverboard rigid foam insulation, and the cabinet in front has an Sirius Equipped infinity car stereo, RV Power Distribution center (120 Volts and 12 Volts) and a 1500 watt fan forced heater.

Fully loaded it comes in just under 7000 lbs.

I tie it in using the J hooks on the rocker panel holes with 10,000 lb ratchet straps and it does not move.

My advice: don't roll your enclosed trailer.

Not sure that such an extreme situation is a primary consideration for tie down solutions but good info nonetheless!

Isn't that what tie downs are for? Extreme situations?

Actually that is THE consideration for tie-downs. For anything other than an accident, wheel straps will work just fine.
