Finally got 112 status but dealer had to modify my spec !!
Anybody have access to the order system to verify what is happening??
I finally made it to 112 status and was told my car (AW,stripped with H/K only) was not able to be ordered stripped with the H/K system? Must add a package now to get the H/K? I've been waiting a long time to get to this stage. The good news is that I finally made it to 112 the bad news is its not exactly what I wanted I dont want any packages, I just want the car without the B/S luxury and just the upgraded stereo. The dealer has been great to deal with and has no problem with me getting the car stripped but I really wanted the H/K? He said he could still change it (add the H/K but I would have to add a package as well) He is a good guy and I do not think he is jacking me around but he said that is the way the order system is now. I went to the BMW website to build your own 1M and the H/K is still a stand alone option? Is it a sudden change from BMWNA or what? |

I'd think you could ask him to verify what he's telling you by asking him to pull up the various packages & options on his computer and actually showing you that the HK cannot be ordered as a stand alone.

I thought the 2 new changes were in regards to the Bluetooth/BMW Assist and the IPOD/USB option.

There are changes for items for September production. The configurator on the website has not yet been updated. you'll want to search for the thread that advises of these changed. Bluetooth was combined with iPod/USB and there are other changes.

A few days ago BMWUSA.com made some adjustments to the Build Your Own configurator which binded the HK with the Premium Package, but then it was changed again just one day later back to an a la carte option.
http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=574593 Who knows what the real effects are on the ordering process. I'm a believer in the stripped out configuration of the 1M. Better to drop the HK sound than to add a hefty package to the weight of the 1M.

Nachob - I don't think you can even get the HK with the 400.00 iPod anymore. I've been searching everywhere for info regarding September changes in regards to the HK and I can't find anything. I'm not paying 2400 for the premium package and then another 875 for the HK on top of that. I guess I'll just find out my options in the morning.

HERE IS THE BULLETIN..
August 2011 1 Series M Coupe orders planned for September production may show code 7H8 for $1,150 which includes 6FL USB Adapter and 639 BMW Assist with Bluetooth. 7H8 may be removed but its contents are now required if 688 Harman Kardon sound system is also specified. 6FL USB Adaptor remains available stand-alone for $400 and includes 6NN Bluetooth from September production at no extra cost, but can no longer be ordered in combination with 688 Harman Kardon sound system unless 639 BMW Assist is added for $750 or ZP2 Premium Package 2 is added. From September production, 688 Harman Kardon sound system must be ordered with either 639 BMW Assist and 6FL USB Adaptor or ZP2 Premium Package 2. BMW Assist with Bluetooth, reinstated as a stand-alone option, now requires 6FL USB Adaptor. The Ordering & Pricing Guide has been updated to again feature 639 BMW Assist as a stand-alone option and now includes the rules pertaining to 688 Harman Kardon sound system and 639 BMW Assist, effective with September production.

nice find Drive... moral of the story is... BMW still is handcuffing owners on the options.. just a bit differently.
I have no idea why they would cobble HK sound with BMW Assist.. USB sure... no problem... but the requirement of $750 for BMW assist must mean they either weren't making enough on the stereo upgrade, or they must be running short on parts or something, and don't want to sell it. |

Ok - I ended up getting the H/K afterall but BMW took another $ 1,150 bite out of me on top of the $ 875 for the H/K in the first place!
I cant help but think that if my car would have entered production about 2 weeks earlier it would have saved me $ 1,150! |
