1M versus a Nismo 370z

I just met someone who owns a stock Nismo 370Z and when I mentioned I'm getting a 1M he laughed. He says his Nismo can do 0-60 in 4.4 and he easily out ran an e46. Anyone know the performance number on that car, I can't find any hard performance number on it.

Not sure why he would laugh? I think we should respect each others car choices.
The 1M spanked the normal 370Z.

370Z Nismo has 350hp...

0-60 times for the Nizmo show around the 5 second range. Not sure where he is getting his data of 4.4?

I'm baffled by that number too. I was looking all over the web for it I found the lowest being 4.7 seconds and thats for a regular 370z.

He would get owned by a tuned 135i easily. No need to even bring in a 1m for a Nismo 370z.

The Nismo 370z is slower than the Base + Sport as it weighs much more. Bear in mind that was the Euro Z that the 1m coupe beat, not that the US one is that much better. However the Nismo Z was faster than the 1m Coupe around Willow. I think the 1m did 1:38 while the Nismo did it in 1:34; forgot where I saw that thought.

That said, the Z cost at least 15k less than the 1m coupe. A few mods totaling less than $3k will put the Z much much closer to Cayman R performance if not match it.

The 6MT Z is 0-60 in 4.6; the 7AT is 4.5 last time I checked. Don't sleep on the Z. I actually picked one up over the 1 and opted not to wait for the 1M Coupe. That said, as stated earlier, it was out of line for that person to laugh.. I still like the 1M, but am glad I did not wait for it.

Endgame do you mind providing a link to those numbers. I'm not dogging the Z, I think its a great car for the money. I just need some data. Thanks.

Here is the link to the MotorTrend 6MT test:

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...est/index.html

I do not have the link for the 7AT, but it was a Car and Driver "Quick Take - Nissan 370Z Automatic' article. And sorry the MT was 4.7 and 7at was 4.6 not 4.5.....

I'm all for supporting one's purchases, but you need a reality check, and I hate to bag on a fellow Z owner.

The Nismo 370z is only marginally better than the 370z. In fact, on the street, the 370z will take it's Nismo brother at the stop light. The Nismo 370z only shines on a track, thanks to its revised suspension set-up... but even then not really since the car is plagued with over-heating issues.

So in short, the Nismo 370z doesn't hold a candle to the 1M, nor does the 370z.

And p.s. 0-60 for the 370z is 5.2 seconds, for the Nismo 370z is 5.3
And the auto's are slower. No dual clutch, overly fancy launch control here.

It's still a decent car, but no need to make it out as something so much better than what it really is just to justify yourself not buying a 1M.

Those lap times I believe are from different drivers.

Jason Isley Lap times where:

M3 ZCP DCT 1:37.7
1M 1:38.8

On Motortrend http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/wi...of_willow.html

M3 (e92) 1:27.67

These time would be dependent on would depend on the driver no?

Willow Springs has 3 track configurations actually:

http://www.willowspringsraceway.com/...ation/maps.asp
The lap times done by Donnie Isley (not Jason ) were on the 2.5 Mile Road Course, not on The Streets of Willow Springs.

The E92 M3 lap time done by Steve Millen on the 2.5 Mile Road Course was 1:36.92 (Steve Millen was a professional racing driver). By contrast, a Nismo 350Z (not 370Z) did it in 1:36.53.

http://www.fastestlaps.com/tracks/willow_springs.html

I too would be interested to see a comparison between the 1M and the Nismo 370Z, but my money would still be on the 1M to win that contest (and not just in the refinement/luxury/practicality categories)

In a drag to 60 1M will probably destroy 370z however on a track 1M advantage won't be as prominent. 370z has a really good chasis.

Everybody argues about .2 secs slower or more fast, and track times. But does anybody ever stop to think about the fact that these are professional drivers pushing the cars to there limits. Or that many of us can drive well enough to notice the difference between the cars.

Leading me to my next point;
Simpy put at the end of the day a bmw is a bmw and a nissan is a nissan.

I think the 370z v 1M is a great comparison. The 1M is a far superior engine but I'd like to see how the handling stacks up between the 2 cars. The zed is renowned for having a good chassis but never had enough grunt for me.

Most of us think when we buy a car we can automatically bring out the best in it. However, the weakest link is most often the driver.

I found that only certain type of people defends their choice by putting other's down. People make their choice for their personal reasons and justifications. I won't worry too much about his reaction mate, best to ignore these type of people .

Why this needs to occur is beyond me? Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and choice of vehicle, when it goes as far as trying to justify your opinion on the other cars forum, that is when I just cannot find the logic in it.

Please prove me wrong, I would be humble, but I doubt seriously you will find any 1M owner lurking on the 370Z forums.......

1M definitely outclasses the 370Z for sure and the Nismo edition doesn't make that much of a difference, but price wise a 370Z is pretty much in line or maybe even cheaper than a standard 135i. Base 370Z starts just over 30k and only touches close to 40k MSRP with sports, premium AND nav. Nismo is right at 40k retail. A 370Z with just sports + premium (what I'd get) is several thousand less than a similarly optioned 135i, though that comparison is of course arguable depending on the value you place on things like directional headlights.

370Z is an awesome car. Looked at one. Just wasn't quite practical enough for me in Indiana weather and just overall practicality. It is definitely faster than a normal 1er due to its superior suspension setup, low CG, bigger standard tire package, etc. It's a sports car from the ground up, while the 1er is a sports coupe with a trunk, rear seats, the ability to back out of a parking spot without praying no one will hit you, etc.

Just another penis waving competition here.
