Problem with that though Kris, is that I would have to change the calipers as well. The factory brakes are 6 pot brembos, so it would be a waste!

Yep, you'd need either :

A brake kit , comprising of calipers, hats, rotors, carriers

Or

A brake kit , comprising of hats, rotors and carriers

Its the carriers which will mount the caliper to the strut/arm - you COULD use the existing calipers with new discs if you had a custom carrier made up. Expensive, and time consuming.

When I had my S3, I had a custom set of hats and carriers made up to suit the Porsche 993 BiTurbo calipers (the big red monoblocks) and it worked well but I'd never do that again - alot of mucking around.

Your best to just get a whole KIT and sell your existing setup. Failing that, upgrade the discs, pads and put some good fluid in and I think youll find the brakes will be MORE than up to the task of any track day you put it through.

You asian guys all drive soft anyway right *laugh*

Smile

ha! Wayne, if you're serious about tracking your car I'd get a setup from AP Racing. Theres also a thread on this forum called something like 'I'm not a Garage Queen' check out his Front brakes on his 135i - THATS what you'll need

Also thicker sway bars (another user put on KMac with good results)

Us 1addicts will have no dramas spending your money to turn your povopack  into a track weapon

Turning it into a track weapon is the exact reason why I purchased a povo pack in the first place. This car WILL BE my track car, so I will look into brakes if I need to later. But I am happy to go with factory spec for now and just change pads and disc and brake fluid. Does anyone know if DOT 5 is ok to use with the fuel lines we have? If not then Motul RBF600 it is. Best DOT 4 fluid there is. Btw, my friend's AP brakes on his RX-8 is awesome!

Kris, you are funny - Porsche brakes etc and yet you don't track your cars

Wayne, once our cars are run in, let's meet at Wakefield - I will challenge you to a track duel for sure!

If she's a looker then please bring her lol. Spdrcr, you are on! Wakefield is closer to you than me though, so no fair! How about Winton? I have never done Wakefield but I am sure it won't be that hard. Stock tyres vs stock tyres ok? I can drive all the way there with semi-slicks!

I'll be up for it even on stock tyres.

Will give me a chance to wear them out so I can put something better on - also good to get a baseline on a totally stock car.

It is about 600km. There are some nice places to stay nearby so you could make a weekend out of it though =)
