Oil in turbo outlet going into intercooler

I was installing my AMS intercooler over the weekend and noticed when removing the factory one, there was a small bit of oil in the rubber flex tube that goes from the turbos into the intercooler. I didn't find any in the out side of the intercooler and none in the charge pipe (I didn't fully disassemble to check the charge pipe but I did stick my finger in there and rub it around (lol that sounds soooo dirty...)).

The BMS OCC is installed and the car only has 30k miles on it. (OCC has about 3-4k since installed.) Nothing else has been wrong, no smoke from the exhaust and performance has been on par. Just noticed it and figured I would throw it to the internet experts and see if I should get the car checked out. I might have BMW give the turbo's a look over if the seals could be in question.

Also note: the car sat for 2 years in storage untouched... Thoughts?

I'm no expert, but I'm sure this is normal, nothing to be concerned about. Seeing as you already have the BMS OCC installed, your new AMS FMIC should stay a lot cleaner.

I'll second that.
Some preventive checking couldn't hurt, but I suspect that oil residue is from before you OCC was installed. Does you OCC catch much oil?

I haven't checked yet, but I guess I could open her up and see what we got. Next time I got a minute in the garage I'll pull it out and see.

+1

The whole intake system from FMIC to CP is covered in oil. I've poured out 1/4 to 1/3 of a cup of oil from a few FMICs. Its crazy.

So nearly 26K Miles without an OCC, that is a lot of time to get that charge pipe and FMIC covered in oil. This is normal.
