I think all that backfiring is a new tuning trend. aka Too Fast too Furious...
Looks like the OP's video was filmed in Spain since that red 1er had SPainish plates. I'm not too crazy about either video. lol

Regular e46 M3 engine vs CSL engine...
The CSL has a CF intake and plenum system. Also on the valve cover there is a shield that wraps around front edge. Both seem to be visible in the picture above. I could be wrong though. Its hard to tell in the above pic.
EDIT... actually that round pipe in the above pic(which I mistook for the CSL's intake) when I look at the intake manifold... it does in fact to be a regular e46 M3 engine. Sorry for stating it was a CSL. Its not. e46 M3 engine e46 M3 CSL engine

The CSL engine is exactly the same... It's just a different intake plenum.
