I can't answer either question, but my advice is to remove the cat. It's not that big of a deal and you will love the increased sound and performance. You don't even have to spend money on a downpipe, you can get someone stock downpipe for like $100 shipped on the classifieds, knock the goodies out and sell them to a recycler. You might want to do that in front of them so they know it came from a BMW (they'll pay more for cats from higher end / high performance cars). Bingo, ultra cheap catless downpipe. That's what I did anyway.
If you want a 1/4 mile time, your best bet is to take the car to a dragstrip or download a 1/4 mile app on your phone. Make sure to properly calibrate it and do a few runs stock to establish a baseline. Then you can see gains. Logs aside, there is surprisingly little hard data on the performance of the MHD tune. |

I was planning to go to a test & tune this Friday until somebody hit my car in the parking lot at work. I'll be sure to post my results when I get the car back from the body shop and can make it out to the strip.
For sure unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust system isn't great for the cat. But since BMW put a burble feature in their PPK tune, you can rest assured it will take at least 4 years (BMW warranty period) to ruin your cat. If it makes you nervous, just turn it off. |

I have N55 and a stage 1 MHD tune. I took my car to the track the other night and ran a 13.2 ... :/ It was hot as balls that night and pretty humid. I only got two run in and there was alot of down time in between. I know without a doubt I could have got into the 12s if I had a few more passes. Temp was in the mid 80s and humidity was around 60%.

Burbles are not created equal. The amount of fuel you can dump, and the time you can dump it for could vary hugely. I don't know how much MHD dumps in or for how long, but this reasoning that BMW uses it is not sufficient to say that it's OK for the cat or not.
Tell us your trap speed, that's the important part. The time is more or less totally irrelevant to how much power the car is making. |

With DP, Chinese cheap intercooler, 2012 135i DCT I did 12.6 with 1.993/60 foot and 107.78mph trap. Very pleased. The trick is, don't rev to the maximum if you have normal tires, try to let go of the brake when you hit 2900-3000rpm, with beteer tires, you can launch at full rpm.

To be honest, for 300$ it's the best quality price intercooler! I can run stage 2+ without any trouble, the only thing is it will heat soak pretty fast, so overs 230kmh i feel the car is getting a little sluggish!

I tried, and it's bad because the DCT has a slight delay so the wheel will start spinning for no reason. The best is to use launch control and let the brakes off at 2000rpm if you have regular race tires like MPSS.

I am running MHD stage 2+ With DP,IC,and CP w/ stock DV and only trapping 103MPH or less. I am thinking this is low. I know my peak boost is around 17.7 but not sure if this is normal.

I had tried the LC on the street before and didn't have an issue with it working, but never tried it with these wheels and tires on the car. |

So on a bone stock car, what is the consensus on the Stage 1 MHD tune? Worth the money? I've seen some dyno pulls on this board somewhere that as I recall indicate that the actual power gains are fairly modest.

I have Cobb, but the stage 1 didn't feel all that different to me. Stage 2+ on the other hand felt a lot different.

I'd guess it's a minimum of 25whp on stage 1 (on 91 gas). I dynoed 317whp 395 tq stage 2 MHD with catless dp.

I have full maps and there are advantages at all the settings depending on conditions and what you want from the car.. Stage 2+ is mad compared to stage 2 which doesn't seem that much faster than 1+ but it has different features... Any of the upgrades are worth it. IMHO
