RDC module out in 5k
Replaced the RDC module and had it coded by a local shop about 5k miles ago. Just recently I'm getting the exact some indication that it's out again. "TPMS MALFUNCTION" flashing light and then it turns solid. Every once in a while it will go off, but will come back on.
This is super annoying as I just had it replaced less than 6 months ago, the module itself was around $300. I'd rather not buy another one. |

Did you use a genuine BMW replacement? It should be covered for two years / 24k miles.

Did use Genuine BMW parts. Yes called the dealer for warranty info. Warranty has to go through the shop I bought it from. That guy said he'd call me back soon. Never got a call. These guys are a joke

If you got the rdc from a dealer with a receipt then you can bring it to a dealer to have it replaced under warranty.... but how are you sure it’s not a sensor or something this time?

There are four sensors in each fender well, check those...you can clear the code if you have one of those little BMW scanners...Creator C110 Code Reader, for around 40.

Can somebody provide a pic of the location of the RDC in a 2012 E82. It is NOT near the tail light.
I've heard people say "Underside, In front of the rear passenger tire" but that is useless info with out more specifics. I've pulled a panel or two and no luck, so either a pic that provides locational context or very specific verbal instructions (less helpful than a pic), please!

No need to remove panels or anything like that. I had a shop try to charge me $900 in labor because they told me its behind the quarter panel Its literally right next to the differential. If you crawl under and look at the diff then the passenger wheel it should be mounted somewhere in between there. |
