"Newest" Software Upgrade...

My 135 is due for service (12000) in January. The closest appointment with a loaner is 1/24. I was instructed that there was also a "software update". I have read a few things on this board... any more details or opinions pro/con ?

If you do a Search you will find many threads on the new Software update. Some notice no difference, some do not like it. I had it done and have noticed no change. I am also on my original HPFP.

Change your own oil and do not get the update after you read the reviews, or not.

This is my first BMW finance... Not lease. I would prefer to take care of it.
Who knows if I will wind up selling or trading it in the future. I've read some of the threads just not sure if there is something newer.

Mine is in the shop now getting all of the recalls done, including the software update. I'll know more next week, since they didn't finish it yesterday.

I love when people take what forum members say like its gold. Please explain why you would suggest NOT getting a recommended software update and why you change your own oil when BMW includes it for free w/your service coverage. Never had any problems w/software updates or oil changes w/my M3 or 135i. In fact, I go there in between oil changes and get free oil when the N55 motor consumes a quart between oil changes. Please indulge me....

I love when forum members think their dealerships are gods when even the dealerships themselves know little to nothing about the cars they are servicing. The guy working on your bmw was working for honda just last week.

I picked the car up Monday evening. It got a new HPFP, 4 new injectors (replaced based on production date code), and software. It seems to drive better than before, and I had no complaints going in. Throttle response off idle is improved, and part throttle response seems more progressive.

I'm happy.

M3bs,

I think you meant SIX new injectors - right? You do know the 135i has six cylinders and not four!

Also... our cars are RWD... just incase you are unsure!

They removed all six injectors, scanned them to check the production date, and based on the date code determined that four of them needed to be replaced.

I guess that RWD thing explains why I can't spin the front tires, huh........

Really ? You know this for a FACT do you ?

I know the Tech who usually works on my car. He is from Poland and has been with BMW since the early 90's. He has actually ridden in the car with me twice.
And NO, he is NOT the shop Foreman.

If you have nothing constructive to say, don't bother. The purpose of these forums is for members to communicate and discuss their cars. As for Dealerships being "GODS" I don't know WTF you are yammering about. No one said any such thing. BUT while you are under Warranty they are your best option.

BWUHAHAHAHAHA. Now that's funny. Considering my service advisor is one of the knowledgeable advisors I have ever dealt with. Dude has an AMAZING E46 M3, and knows more about BMW's than anyone I have ever met. Don't talk about people or things you know nothing about. Keep that ish in TEX-ASS Tony Bromo.

P.S. I don't think anyone is a "God". But I do trust both my mechanic and my service advisor more than chuckleheads on a forum that don't provide any explanation about their suggestions and absolutely no factual evidence, then resort to immature ish-talking when someone asks for emperical data to support said sugggestions.

Never said "all of them are inexperienced" but for the most part they are. And besides you just said your "service adviser", and not your tech. Big difference there as a service adviser sits behind a desk while your tech works on your car.

and lol @ your failed Texas joke.

Simply put, if your car is running fine, then i would suggest passing on ANY software updates. The majority of people that get this done don't seem happy with performance aspects.
If or when my HPFP fails, I will still insist not to upgrade. My car runs strong! Will not let BMW "soften it up"
