"Get a real BMW"...
Driving home in Chicago, I was being careful to not #%@ my car up over the horrible roads in this area so i slow down over the speed bumps and the dips caused by road construction. I look behind me and this guy is riding my ass looking pretty irritated, even though I really wasnt going slow, I was just slowing down for bumps and dips. As I get to my parking garage, I stop to open the garage door. As the door is rising, the guy proceeds to lay on his horn, like Im just supposed to drive into the garage before the door is open. By this time I was getting irritated, so I very slowly begin moving into the garage. As the guy passes me, he yells " Get a real BMW!" along with alot of profanity. Turns out the guy parks in the same garage and pulls in also. After parking, my brother and the guy start arguing but eventually he leaves and goes inside. WTF is wrong with people these days? This guy knows what I drive, but he better not touch my baby or we may have problems.

The profanity shows what his mindset is. Unfortunately, there are many of them out there.
In your shoes, I wouldn't have done anything any other way. He probably was having a bad day, and you were appropriate in driving prudently in construction zones. |

He mistakenly thought that you drove slowly because your BMW isn't real. Honestly I always blame BMW drivers because they are terrible slow, including M drivers. I guess guys and gals are so in love with cars so do not want to harm babies any way. Unfortunately the guy driving some junk has no idea about that and blamed BMW.

In that situation I love to slow down more to the point where they are flailing their arms in the air and attempt to pass you... then you throw it in a low gear and take off...hahaha... I love doing that.... if someone is going to slow for your taste but still above the posted speed limit then cool your jets and change lanes!

What was he driving? Was it a real Toyota/Chevy/etc?
I used to own a Boxster S and I often read the same stuff on the Boxster board. Jealous types shouting "get a real Porsche" WTH? I guess they just feel powerless in some way. Frustrated souls. Whenever someone verbally assaults me on the road, I ask them "why are you so angry?" I love hearing the irrational answer!

I love telling others that it's the lowest (and cheapest) entry level BMW you can get. They usually believe because of its size.
We have half a million cars in my area, and less than 100 1er. Every time I go back to the car, I see a few guys, young, old, women, men, all trying to peer in and find out what manner of alien Bavarian it is. |

That happens to me on occasion, but it's normally some SUV tailgating me and then aggressively trying to go around me at a stoplight. My response is usually along the lines of, "beeyotch, please..." and zipping away. I don't get it...must be car envy.
I do get just as many folks who really like the car and ask about it or complement it, though. I was picking up my husband from work yesterday and was getting out of a tight spot, and a kid was helping me out. He said, "I really wouldn't want that to hit anything. I REALLY like that." |

Put a M badge on the back... Just kidding! No flames please. Just kidding!
Really, who cares what some random guy says. Just enjoy your car. Life is too short to get caught up in unimportant static. Now, if he was to mess with your car, that's entirely different.

agreed, sounds like the person has a lot of personal issues. Now if he walked over to you, a slap on the chin with an upper cut would do the trick

Life is 1% of what actually happens to you and 99% of how you react to it.
I wouldn't give it another thought.
