"Frozen" LeMans blue 135i
Not really what BMW meant with their frozen finishes. This is after the recent ice storm. I couldn't get in the car for 5 days until I finally gave in and got someone to drive me to buy RainX de-icer. It took almost the entire can to get the driver's door and trunk open.

1'ER ABUSE! Get that poor car a garage!!
Just kidding. But wondering if all that ice messes up the finish? Or the de-icer for that matter. Another reason to be thankful for living in AZ. |

Geez...reminds me of Connecticut winters back in the day, but even worse! If you can't get a garage, you might consider investing in a good all-weather car cover for bad weather like that. Not sure if the intense cold/ice will hurt the finish, but it certainly isn't good for it.

The car came through unscathed. After de-icing enough to get the driver's door and trunk open, I let it warm up enough to clear the ice off all the glass. After that, I took it to the coin-op car wash and used water to rinse off the de-icer and loosen up the ice. A little tapping with a mini rubber squeegee and all the ice was removed cleanly without any scraping.

agh this happened to me in texas a month ago. I had to go to work! I de iced the drivers side door, and finally got it open, but it wouldn't close!! I spent like 1 hour deicing the whole car ._.

All that ice just seals in the wax job you gave it last fall.
Glad I have a garage. Our SUV got the ice a couple weeks ago. As for a cover, I'd think it would be worse. I have a Weber grill and if that gets too cold or iced, it starts cracking the material. With ice that bad, you'd probably trash the cover if you tried to remove it.
