No agonizing wait for a factory order for me although it has taken a while to get it shipped here from the dealer who had it. I can't imagine how painful it wuld be to have to wait months for a factory order, three weeks has been long enough.
Cool beans. If you add the BMW performance power kit 2 you are an is.
Happy motoring!

Unhappy 5 Weeks and Counting...

I've been doing the same... and still have 5 weeks to go! PCD is scheduled for August 29 which gives me time to get a few details lined up, such as tint, clear bra, post-PDC drive home cleaning/detailing, radar detector, winter tire strategy, etc. Thanks to these forums I've decided to forego the potential inconveniences of a piggyback tune.

I love this thread regarding how many 135is coupes have been built. Didn't realize when I plunked down my deposit the world of fanatical obsession I was about to enter!

10 weeks to Ohio, Yikes! That is about how long I waited to get my car here in Tucson. The things I did to pass the time. Well worth the wait. You are halfway there.

Going with PCD added about 3 weeks. I scheduled time off for PCD during the first week of August, then I got the news that my appointment was August 29...

That should be a fun drive back to Ohio. I just notice that you are getting a mineral grey car. It is A great color with subtle changes in different light. What Greg said

looks like the folks at http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ shut me down, which sucks since they had the most complete VIN info. Today they let me search 2 VINS and that was it. I guess I will try http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html. hopefully they won't give me the boot for a while

As of today I count 245 P7MFA-Sports Edition Convertibles. 219 are 135is, 26 are Canadian . My coupe count for coupes is 544. Bama and me agree on the 8-03-2013 number. Of those 544 cars 22 are Canadian.
That is a total of 789 P7MFA-Sports Edition cars. ± a handful for operator error, me being the operator.

Now, is the lightning striking you down if you're wrong? Or, is that how BMW puts the power into the 135is. =)

By the way BP, I'm going to try to get them to install that secondary Performance Power Kit Installed sticker on Saturday, so no dealer ever misses it. I'm even planning on showing them the picture of all the PPK stuff YOU got that I didn't.

I' m not sure but I think the tune software is coded to your vin. Hopefully your PPK info is kicking around some one's desk drawer. Yeah the lighting is like the the car.

Since it's going in Saturday morning for the post break-in oil change, I'm just going to double check and make sure to anyone who ever touches my car that it is clear as day that it has the PPK2. Half the sales people and who knows how many service people don't even know what the 135is is to have it click in their head, oh, this obviously has the PPK.

So, I'll take all the redundant indicators to idiot proof my car I can get. =) And I'll let you know if indeed it's clearly shown in their computer system that it has it installed.

Yeah I stopped by the dealer last Saturday and asked about the ppk sticker because mine doesn't have one on the hood or door jam and was told by the SA that it would be tied to my VIN and I didn't need a sticker. I'll be sure to remind them about it every time I visit.

I have the small white one on the underside of the hood that says performance power kit installed, change spark plugs at 45,000 miles if I remember correctly. That assumes someone is looking for that sticker. I'd want it to be as clear as possible and have that clearer sticker somewhere in front of the engine on the air intake's plastic housing or on the metal somewhere just behind the hood latch area. And like you, I will make certain every time I take it in, everybody is well aware it's installed since it's seemingly just a software thing that could easily be removed or overwritten. Not worth taking a chance. I'll see what they say on Saturday when I take it in and clearly the quality standards, even within the same port a few weeks apart vary greatly with what stickers/indicators people are getting.

In reality, I think the risk of the PPK software being removed or overwritten on the 135is will be pretty low. Maybe I'm mistaken, but the techs are going to know what's in these cars (if they don't already) after a couple of the 135is come in for service. It will be worth pointing it out the first time you take it in and having the SA make a note in the records with your VIN, but I don't think you will need to worry about it every time you bring the car in. When it comes to 45,000 miles, being that we're all enthusiasts to begin with, you'll be taking it in for spark plug replacement anyways -- you won't need a sticker to tell them to do it.

I think, in reality, the chances of losing our PPK software is very low as well...maybe 1%? 2% tops. But, it's the same as being worried about a plane or car crash, that you worry about, though incredibly unlikely. But if a cheap lil sticker or two helps reduce that chance (at least in my mind), that's all I want.

Perhaps I am distrusting...or just used to incompetent Audi techs. =P Or worse...the lawyer in my coming through in spite of years of therapy to dispose of that.

Well at least start by demanding that really cool PPK engine cover, and when they say NO, then you kick and scream, throw a fit in the lobby within earshot of the sales CAs who are trying to close deals and then "reluctantly" settle for the sticker (only after calling your attorney in a loud public way). I have confidence that you will be successful!

Problem solved. I just went ahead and made my own Performance Power Kit sticker with a pen and a post it and put it on the car. I can easily make more of these if any other forum members are interested in purchasing them. This way, they'll clearly know I have the PPK 2 installed. It even has an arrow pointing to the engine.
