2008 BMW 128i Manual 73k miles

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds

Item Interest
2008 bmw 128i
74k miles
Montego blue/oyster leather
Manual transmission
N52
Location: Marysville WA

VIN: WBAUP73598VF06244

Options:

Sport package
Cold weather package
Moonroof
Idrive
Parking sensors

I bought this in 2015 with 53k on it with the goal of making this a worthy replacement for my E36m3. Having researched the BMW catalogue the 128i seemed to be the best foundation with NA power and light weight. But in stock form it left a lot on the table. So I started a journey to make this a reliable and enjoyable performer which exceeds the M3 in every way.

Suspension:
- Koni Yellows with H&R Springs
- Dinan Rear Shock Mounts
- Dinan Camber Plates
- M3 Front control/thrust arms (-2.4 total camber)
- Whiteline 2 piece Rear subframe bushings

Power: the goal was to get the most out of this platform and retaining NA
- BMW 3 stage intake Manifold
- AA headers
- Modified stock airbox with silicone intake tube
- BMW Performance Exhaust
- MILV’s
- AA tune for headers and MILVS – No CEL
- Dyno @ 243whp / 215 tq (Prior to installing MILVs)

Brakes: OE upgrades to increase performance and reduce weight
- Z4 front caliper brackets
- Z4 Aluminum rotors
- 330i aluminum front calipers
- EPC yellow pads

Drivetrain:
- 3.73 rear differential (from E90 automatic)
- BMW Performance SSK, all new bushings
- E46 M3 transmission mounts
- Updated OE clutch and flywheel and related hardware (70k)
- New Guibo
- Transmission front/rear seals + shifter seal

Exterior
- 1M rep front bumper (ebay)
- Depo V2 headlights
- Style 264 18” wheels 225/40 front, 245/35 rear
- BMW performance rep rear spoiler

Interior
- ZHP shift knob
- BMW Performance rep flat-bottom steering wheel
- Aluminum pedals

I personally built this car and maintained it to a very high standard. Including a stack of receipts and detailed log of all maintenance. (Available on request) The major known issues have already been addressed for the next owner including. Water pump/tstat. Valve Cover, eccentric shaft sensor, Plugs, coil packs, oil filter housing gasket and much more. Its also an 08 N52 which is not subject to vanos bolt failure nor the related issues and parts costs of an N51. Absolutely love this car, but found a 1M!

Wow! That's a bargain for someone. I'd be asking at least 2k more for a similar car in this market.

The dealership where I bought mine kindly offered to buy it back from me for $5,638. Um, yeah...no.

Yeah I figured it might be low given the spec. I'm Considering cars and bids if I don't get my asking price. 1 series seem to be doing well there. Save the 4.5% buyers fee!

Wow great looking car! Any idea as to the ability to pass CA emissions testing? Looking through various N52 discussions I haven't found a definitive answer--will keep looking tho. Definitely interested in the car--please PM me if possible. Thanks!

Also, hi all! Been lurking here and elsewhere learning about the 1-series ever since a friend suggested it as an alternative to the E90. Haven't looked back!

With AA headers, there's no way it could legitimately pass a CA emissions inspection. I don't know how strict CA is, but in Texas, you can go to a hole-in-the-wall shop and they'll pretty much pass anything as long as you swear that you installed the mods after they inspected it.

Stock downpipes included if you need to pass emissions. Would need to be installed.

That's consistent with what I've been reading, unfortunately. CA is very strict, but I do know a guy who knows a guy... Gonna think on it.

Thanks, markslc1 . Aiming to do most maintenance and upgrades myself, but not sure I want my first BMW project to be a header replacement Might hold off and wait for a closer-to-stock 128i and start with an oil change.

If I bought that beaut for 14k it'd feel like highway robbery, and I straight up thought I stole my car paying 7.4k @ 100k. Accept nothing less than 14k my dude.

I get that. You'd be looking at 5-800 in labor at a shop to swap back. And you would have headers you could sell.

Love this color combo. Also--what brand is that garage door? Haha I think that's the exact style I've been looking for. GLWS

For posterity:

Could someone please post either the original asking price, or selling price if known. I think it's important to preserve some of this information if for no other reason than insurance purposes. I know it's the prerogative of the OP but someone probably remembers the ask?

Good point. Happy to say it sold for my asking price of $14k. Going to a new home in OH.

Keep any eye on these 128s. I'd bet they start bringing good money on BAT in the future.

Thanks for posting that. And I'm sure we don't need to tell you to enjoy your new 1M!
