Winter Wheel Size 135i with large brakes.
I'm kind of confused on what size rims/tires I can fit on my car for the winter. Since I have the huge brakes are 17's a no go? Can I fit 18x8 square or do the fronts have to be 18x7.5?

The right 17s will fit a 135i. Mine came stock with 17” wheels. If you have the standard 135 brakes you are good with 17” wheels. If you have a Big Break kit installed, then it is likely they will not fit.

18x8 on the front are fine. I have 19x8 47et (I think) with a 235/35 tire and there is absolutely no rubbing anywhere.

If you absolutely must get winter tires on your 1-er, I would go with getting a set of extra 17" wheels, and some nice, narrow studless winter treads. I have the staggered setup on mine, and my first winter with my car in WI, it was next to impossible to find the appropriate tires for the rears. I wound up using my old Scoobie most of the winter instead.
Of course, the next year, I moved back out to Boise, ID where it never snows ... problem solved, right? Last edited by Ingrid1; 06-10-2022 at 12:28 PM.. |
