You can fit manual boots over the DCT trim if you remove the silver base plate. This is what I did and painted the silver shifter trim black.

I checked realoem and the DCT shift know part crosses over to the e89 z4. This company makes an updated shifter for the z4. Not sure it will work but it's worth investigating.

Looks like it's also available from bimmian

That more than likely fits the earlier 6 speed automatic (steptronic) cars only. the 7 speed dct and 8 speed auto are already the updated "2014 style shifter". although you likely could do a custom wiring pin-out as long as the dct shaft is the same diameter

I've been wondering if the entire shifter module from an m3 would work properly with some coding... looks similar, and they're about $200 on eBay. They deff have a much more positive "click" while shifting, and look a whole lot better.

I loved the SMG shift knob in my E60 M5 which looks pretty much identical to the ones in E92 M3's but I haven't seen any solutions from reading a number of older posts. Anyone here tried Black Forest with success? https://blackforestindustries.com/co...mw-shift-knobs

They have shifters for E90 DCT, but I don't know if those only fit the M3, or also the 335is. If it fit the 335is, I imagine it would would on the E82

No. The wiring is different (but could be retrofitted) and the CAN/LIN messages to/from the transmission are different. You could run M3 software in the DCT, but then you'd either need an M3 rear dif (which would require the whole M3 subframe and custom driveshaft) or get a transmission tune that could change the rear ratio to 3.46.

Where did the sport button go?
