Zaino vs Menzena?

so which one is the better shine?
which one gives the longest shine?

been doing Zaino for a few years, but I'm sure things have gotten better on other companies. :iono:

the Menzena product line looks very interesting

I'm interested too. Over on the Audi forum (I was considering a TT roady first) they love Menzerna.

I use both, right now I'm using Menzerna for polishes and Z2 Pro for protectant. I've used FMJ and it has a little warmer finish on some colors, but I just prefer Z2p for reasons that aren't really quantifiable.

I strongly prefer Menzerna polishes to the limited Zaino choices though.

I haven't used Menzerna, but Zaino is soooo easy to apply.

Zaino is a great product but has too many rules for me to follow, so I switched to Menzerna Polish II and Menzerna FMJ and I am very happy.

That was one thing I never liked about Zaino. I always had the feeling that they had a very good product but an even better marketing plan. IE, don't apply this until you apply this, for even SHINIER results, add two drops of this solution that you can buy for the low low price of 19.99, etc. Like I said, it's a good product but I wonder how many of those rules you really need to follow.

I use menzerna with a random orbital to prep the surface (remove imperfections). Then I seal the clearcoat with zaino.

it would depend on how many stages of polishing is required....if you have really bad swirls then you would need PowerGloss followed by Super Intensive Polish then followed by PO106ff....

it isnt even fair to compare Menz to Zanio....Menz is known for polishes and Zanio is more of a sealant.

just my .02

I know you didn't ask me, but I use Power Gloss with a rotary and Intensive and Final Polishes with an orbital, each with good results.

Power Gloss is great for my friend's neglected cars, but not really necessary for a well kept car. Some finishes don't seem to get much, if any benefit from Final Polish either, but my red and black cars really get that last bit of shine from it.

If you are really good you can finish 106ff like final polish

Do you seal it with Z2? Are there additives that need to be mixed beforehand?

Honestly after a proper polish and a few coats of CG Jet Seal....I get the same results...but instead of filling swirls....I get rid of them.....you should polish using Menz to get rid of swirls first, then Top the car with Zaino as it is one of the best Sealants out there.

Dude, no matter what they say you got the wrong impression. Zaino really doesn't fill swirls in well at all. I am actually using Zaino again on this car, but learned well enough on my last (black) car that if I didn't want to see swirls Menzerna was the answer. Honestly Meg's NXT hid swirls better than Z5 Pro in a big way, and I don't really see that as saying a whole lot. Zaino shine is nice and durable though on a properly prep'ed car.

I never said it filled swirls well....i just said it filled them...NXT..haha probally one of the best fillers out there.

Prep the car is Menz----finish with Zaino.....which is why this thread is a little silly...cant really compare the two.

Not necessarily. If the OP was asking how FMJ compares to Z2, then it's actually a pretty fair question. I think FMJ has a little more natural (carnuba like) shine to it, and it's very easy to use. I can't really compare the durability to Z2p as I used FMJ on a friend's single stage paint, and use Z2p on my clear coated cars, but it seems to hold up pretty well.

I agree that comparing ZCP or Z5 to full fledged Menzerna polishes is no contest, but for a top coat, FMJ does offer a competitive finish to Z2p.

Ok, so on a new car, I'm getting the general consensus to be Prep with Menz fine polish (is it 85rd?) and Z2 Pro on top of that. Does this sound like a good combo for a brand new JB that needs to be prepped and sealed?

That should do the trick. Are you using a random orbital? If so you should probably do a first pass with a pad with slight cutting ability, and then do a second with a non-cutting pad. My JB 135i looked like hell under flourescent lighting due to the dealer "prep", so it took a good amount of clean up before being ready for a Z2 coating.

If you're working by hand FPII (PO87MC) and other Menzerna polishes can be a bit tricky to get working properly. Meguiars Imperial Hand Polish is recommended by Zaino and works better as a final polish than Zaino ZCP by hand.

Good luck, a clean, shiny JB car is a beautiful thing!
