I used PowerTrain Industries and asked them to make me a new e9x m3 dct Driveshaft but shorter by 3 7/8in or whatever it was between the center joint and diff. Still comes with a warranty.

Oh awesome, I’ll check them out.

I also came up with a measurement of 3 7/8” or 98mm so that’s nice. Oddly enough it looks like it can be taken out of either half since the chassis has two sets of mount holes, and the front section bolts in, as does the rear section. The holes are 98mm apart.

Tut,

This car is simply and amazing build! I'm about 1/3 of the way into a S65/6 speed manual swap top my E30 M3. I am debating going the Cas, Key, and Ecu route ot going Motec. I know I can integrate the Motec with the E30 dash. I would like to use an M3 instrument pod if possible. Was it worth the wiring headache to retain the stock ecu? Did you keep the traction control and M3 mode features? Thanks in advance for any help or direction.

In the 1 series it's not really a headache to keep the stock stuff. I believe Tut just swapped the whole M3 harness into the 1 series. I mixed and matched the harnesses in mine, but same overall outcome. It's a very different endeavor than an E30 swap. You may be able to find someone to do the EWS delete in the MSS60 and use just the stock ECU and the E30 cluster and everything.

Amg,

I wish I could find someone the EWS delete the stock ecu. Everyone I've contacted says no. I know that Syvac and Motec both can run the S65. I would rather run the stock ecu. I may swap the dash wiring and cluster in the M3 e30 shell.

If you still need an EWS delete stock ECU, I have one laying around.

The car got pushed to the back of the garage as other projects came up and I started tracking my Lotus a lot more. On a whim, I decided to sell the Eventuri Plenum, MS pulleys, and intake so I can get a Harrop blower. The plenum did sound great and after putting on the stock plenum, the additional noise that it generated was more clear, but I didn't think it was worth the money and I ended up breaking even on it; it was a good experience while it lasted.

As far as going with a blower, I wanted a Harrop for a couple of reasons:
1. Its less popular/more exclusive and fits the theme of this particular build
2. The usual centrifugal blowers give you more S65, but don't necessarily change the car. On my old S2K, I installed a CT-Engineering blower and while it made the car much more enjoyable, I couldn't tell a difference aside from the faster lap times. As a matter of fact, the first time I drove it, I thought the blower was broken. I didn't want a repeat of that experience.
3. Harrop just looks better under the hood.

My issue was clearance and I didn't know if the heat exchanger would fit, but I would figure something out. You can reference my post on the Harrop thread on M3Post, but in short everything did fit with a little bit of massaging here and there. The first change was in how the heat exchanger had to be mounted. You have to cut up the rad support similar to how you would while installing a stepped 7.5" FMIC.

Mike sent me a picture of your car the other day, I thought it was familiar. That thing is going to be insane.

I worried fitment would be a nightmare, but aside from the heat exchanger, it wasn't bad at all. I got some more goodies lined up for the car, so I'm excited for the final product. Needless to say, I'm glad it didn't sell haha

Shortly after I did the swap, I installed new tension arms in the front. At the time I was trying to remedy a vibration up front and decided to refresh everything. In hindsight I should have installed the monoball bearings while I was at it. I ended up going with an offering from PLM and installed them as GAS instructed using the Loctite Activator and Bearing adhesive. Additional NVH is minimal, and the steering feel and feedback is much improved. The front end of the car feels more crisp.

I bought a universal bearing puller/installer and install was a breeze.

Next up I'm refreshing the rear end like I should have when I had everything apart. Waiting on the subframe bushing tool to come in along with some other bearings before I can proceed.

I had every intention of selling the car and the final bid was close to the reserve, but no dice. I did get a bunch of tire kickers and people offering 20k for it, which is non-sense. I think people got turned off by the Eventuri plenum video, but if you're buying a performance car and you don't think the previous owner drove it then you're either an idiot or delusional.

I got rid of my BK floor mounted seat brackets, because the seating position wasn't comfortable for me; they sat too low and the depth was a hair off. I dealt with it, because I wasn't driving the car enough, but I found a good deal on some MS Club Sport seat mounts and pulled the trigger. You can build a similar solution with other offerings on the market, but its nice having it done for you and ready to install.

With the addition of the blower, I wanted a way to monitor boost and IATs without having to connect my OBD adapter every time and without installing gauges. I lucked into a P3 Gauge on eBay and my problem was solved.

While I was at it, I saw a local member selling a GruppeM intake. While I'm not expecting any additional power, I wanted some more induction noise from the blower. The Harrop requires the OEM box, so my choices were limited and this intake fit the bill since its thinner walled being CF and has a cone filter. One of the things thats bothered me is how the front air scoops don't connect to the intake so I will address that once I get some free time. Once nice about the intake is the top of it lines up perfectly with the hood vent, which I wasn't expecting.

Car has been running great, but I felt that I could do a better job with the some of the things I did the first go around so some changes are coming. Picked up another donor car:

I can't wait to see the improvements. Good luck with the build progress and thanks for reviving this thread.
