Are e82 prices on the rise?
I'm sure there is some sort of aggregation tool out there that could tell us for sure, but am I crazy or are the prices for our cars climbing?
I almost bought an e92 m3 when I got the 1, but wanted the boost. There were a ton of low mile e92/3 m3's under 30k then. Basically none now. The one I shopped was 24k, had about 40k miles. Always wondered when we'd get the bump (seems inevitable due to the nature of this car), and while taking a look at Cars For Sale section here, it seems like e82 inflation is upon us. There are multiple listings for not very low mile 135i's over 20k, couple of years ago that was unheard of. Really has me considering an upgrade. I've been living well below my "means" for a long time as a car guy. But I love my car so much and only want to replace it with an rs3 or c8, both still overpriced on the used market. My e82 is pretty close to perfect for me, but 20k for this thing sounds nice too.

Almost ANY BMW with a manual tranny is increasing. Tourings with manual trans are especially hot right now. 1s and 3s will always be hot, especially 1s as they not making them any more. Now the best must have sport pkg, maintenance records and no rust. Color, interior & exterior is also a factor. I would love to have a red interior.

Well, my recent experience in attempting to replace my wife's totaled '08 128i Sport Auto with Bluetooth, USB, PDK, Nav, Premium, leather, etc., would indicate a yes.
We bought her 128i two-years ago and initially our insurance company wanted to settle at about $1000 less than we'd originally paid. They sent us some "comparable" examples from dealerships (used car lots, Ford dealers, etc, with ripped seats in the pictures, and worse) and took an average of those after adjusting for what ours had in optional equipment that none of those had. I eventually worked them up to $11,500 for the car based on real examples of more similar cars in actual decent condition listed for sale. They really didn't put up a horrible fight in increasing my settlement by 40% over what we paid two-years ago—though it did take 4-weeks and some firm refusals on my part. I showed them industry reports saying nearly any used car had increased in value 30% in the past 6-months due to shortages from reaction to the Pandemic. Can't wait to see what the salvage brings at auction. They were trying to pull one over on me on that valuation, but then it was a rear-end hit with no airbags deployed and still ran. https://www.iaai.com/vehicledetails/...S&RowNumber=14 |

All used cars are on the rise, but yes it seems like e82's and manuals are especially high.
The 2 series getting uglier and uglier is probably partially helping our values. |

I feel outright blessed to find my 2011 128i with 77k for $8k out the door earlier this year. Exterior paint in 7/10, interior near 9/10. Black Sapphire/Coral Auto. Would have preferred a manual but for the price and the commuting I do, I have no complaints.

$11.5K for mine a week ago. 73K miles, upgrades, LMB/Oyster 6MT 128i. I think you did a bit more than OK with yours 🙂

Guess I'll be listing my car soon. If I can get 20k+ it's probably time to move on.
Been on the fence about getting a nice "family" car (I have a 1 year old and 4 year old, shuffling them around in the e82 is fun but tough). If I get over 20k for the 135, I'll buy my buddies old 240sx and do the build I've always dreamed of with that car (carb legal VQ swap) and get a 440gt or something. Current plan was to do a mini overland build on an old crv and keep the e82 as the other car. We'll see I guess. I'm as cheap as they get so I love this plan. But I've been dreaming about that old 240sx for YEARS. 80k original miles, one owner, been in a garage 15 years and is being offered to me for 2k. Don't know why I'm thinking out loud here though lol

Literally anything and everything is going up in value right now. Without turning this into a comment on inflation and economics, anything perceived to be an enthusiast car appears to be going up at an even higher rate.

Used car prices are up due to a shortage of new cars. This situation will quickly change as the economy picks up and supply shortages for parts improves.
Regarding shortages of parts, there is a race track in Kentucky being used as a storage area for new vehicles that need a computer chip. Believe me an avalanche of chips will soon be here, LOL! In any case, if you can get a good price for your old beater, you should go for it. |

It came down to that one, or a 2013 135i manual with 26k miles for 31,000. If it had been an "is" I would have. I know people say the N54 has reliability problems, but I'm willing to take the risk. Used car prices are inflated. But I think once they settle out, a nice 1er in good condition will begin holding value. IMO it's the next E30. |
