LSD options for DCT 135i

SO, One of my big upgrades planned for this off-season is an LSD. Was looking an an Mfactory 2.56 from syncrotech for ~$2700. Saw options on diffsonline but much pricier. Right now I am looking at this:

https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1482931

in the E90 for sale section. OS Giken large pumpkin 3.46 with 10k miles. Biggest issue I think is the large change in drive ratio. I am smart enough to understand what that means on paper...what I don't fully understand is how that will translate to the track or of I'll blow up my DCT or something ( ). Anyway...looks like I could save a lot of money getting a highly reputable clutch-type LSD vice a helical...but...I need some track rat advice here! TIA.

Gearing is already stupid short with stock gearing, I wouldn’t go to 3.46. Wife has the Mfactory diff in hers, it’s a great diff.

I think you may be correct. Also I've been reading that the DCT TCU doesn't like alternative final drive ratios...

Depends where you are hoping for gains with the gearing. I've gone back and forth and I think I'm going to keep the stock gearing and go with a Stage 2 turbo so I can use the entire power band in each gear. I have to short shift like crazy right now on road courses with the DCT, FBO N55 JB4.

I've run both Wavetrac and OS Giken in my last car (996 PCar) and not sure whether to go clutch or Wave/Torsen style. Which way are you leaning?

My original plan was an Mfactory with the 2.56 based on cost, but I would much prefer a clutch-type and OS Giken has a good rep so when I saw this I was wondering if the gearing difference would be too drastic...so, no gearing goals, just saw an opportunity.

Hey,

we are doing a group buy for clutch type diffs for a lot of BMWs at the moment.
I can get you a 215L full Pumpkin equipped with ZF Clutch Type LSD for around 2.500 USD + Shipping (Setup: 40/15% Locking). There are a lot of other Setups possible.

If you are interested hit me up.

Best Regards

Raffi

Sorry didn’t see this earlier, it’s a gear type (Torsen). PO installed it, I likely would’ve gone with a clutch type, but it works great as long as both tires are on the ground.
