Tyres

Okay, I'm guessing im not the only one that figured this out, but the 1ers are hungry for tyres! On my last change I changed over to non-run flats - Hankook Ventus V12 Evos - Best decision ever, run flats really are CRAP! Now I'm back on the market and Hankooks aren't available(NO STOCK) - anyone out there with any leads on great places to get tyres from?

I went from the Bridgestone run flats after just over 16000km and also wanted to go to normal tyres so I got Continentals but my car was all over the place, too much power. I went back to the tyre place the next day and changed them for the new run flat Yokohama ADVAN Sport. What an awesome tyre! Getting good grip and feel on the road. Also a lot less expensive than the Bridgestones and a far better tyre. Google it and do some research. I also went 255/30/18 at the back.

Yokie Advans are really awesome tyres! The 255/35 at the rears give the car an awesome look right? But does it touch your wheel arch on medium bumps? I just changed over to Michelin Pilot Sport 3s NonRFs - Freaking Awesome Grip!

I've just changed size. Stock of the standard 215/40 and 245/35's was a problem for an extended period so I went for 225/40's and 255/35's which is still within spec. Still run-flat though. Grip is reasonable, but then my rears were smooth as a baby's butt before, so car was all over the place. Still using Bridgestone. One of the fitment centres said they wear quite quickly and recommended Michelin; I got about 25,000km off my first set which is pretty good considering the abuse I put them through. Can't really see that they're wider unless you look closely. They bubble over the rim a little by comparison to stock, but the stock tyres were very narrow by comparison to the rim width.

Have they started to rub on the wheel arch when you hit a bump yet? that's the only thing that annoys that shit outta me wit the 255/35s

Dealer remarked that switching to run-flats or altering width would affect motorplan, as well as potential problems with insurance companies.

Too much admin to worry over and I appreciate the safety aspect of run-flats. The rears were replaced with OEM Bridgestone Potenzas, R3k each. They had 30,000kms and could have gone a few more if need be.
