Man, that red keeps looking better and better. This must be that midlife crisis thing I've always heard about. Every guy ends up with a little red sports car at some point in his life.

I just wish it always looked like it was smoldering like the logo at the top.

I have a real problem with the design from THIS angle.

The area circled in green, relative to the area circled in pink just looks flat out corny to me. There's something dissonant - overly deliberately fancy to me. It makes the car look sort of silly.

There aren't any official photos from that angle, are there? I guess I can see why...

I'm no designer, but I think they're trying to break up the stubbiness?

These are kind of close.

That angle actually works for me. Splitting hairs perhaps, but even a slight change in angle can make such a difference.

Another car like this is the Cayman. Great from so many angles, but there are a few that make the thing look pretty unattractive.

I think they wanted to visually break up how thick and stubby the body looks from the side.

Maybe the design is a little too clever- but I admire them for that.
The front fender wheel bulge where you can see 2 distinct horizontal creases begin to take shape
is a showcase performance by BMW's stamping molds. It'll be a lot of fun to look at.

I'll take this anyday over the boring slab-sided designs of Japanese
manufacturers.

Ah - AutoWeek's daily e-mail just showed up in my in-box. Seems that Pantone named Chilli Pepper Red as the color of the year and Ford has it as 'Candy Apple Red' on an '08 Mustang. Article here.

That photo was taken by Christian Wimmer, good people + props to him for the photo and being cool enough to share it.

Thanks for the id Deutsch.
On page 1 of the thread I called this shot one of the top 10 photos we have of the car. I'll just add that it's real strength as a photograph is the way it has captured the sporty character of the car in a way that perhaps no other picture has.

We don't want to get into border wars with you and the other great guys at GCZ.
:wink: :respekt::biggrin:
