Vanos solenoid

I have a 2013 128i with 69k miles and I recently got a fault code 2A7C so I think it’s time to replace the Vanos Solenoids. Should I just buy a set of Genuine BMW solenoids or aftermarket? If aftermarket, does anyone know which brand is OEM? Thanks

I wouldn´t recommend aftermarket solenoids.
I used Vaico and they just failed right out of the box.

Also check your oil housing cover.
If that plastic center fails you might get vanos errors as well.

Okay. I'll order a set of Genuine BMW Solenoids. Recently changed oil and plastic center is there. Thanks.

2A7C was the code I got when my intake vanos gear bolts failed. You're still in the 10 year extended warranty for Recall Campaign 14V-176 so if solenoids don't fix your issue I would go straight to the dealer

Okay. Thanks for the info. However, not sure my car qualifies for this recall? I read it was only for n52 up to 2012. I’ll have to ask the dealer about this, as I might be turning it in for the FRM recall.

My Genuine BMW Vanos Solenoids from FCP Euro finally arrived. I installed them last week, which was fast and easy. Wow...what a difference. There's no codes and there's substantially more power past 4k rpm, plus now I can hear the Euro Airbox I installed before the solenoids. I highly recommend this to anyone with more than 65k miles on their solenoids.
