Fowell vs. Bimmergeeks
I need a new battery, I think mine is the original and the dealer quoted me like $500! I think I'm going to buy one or the other, but was wondering which one? Anyone with experience please chime in. What I'm looking for is ease of use and to be able to look at code too. Thanks.

While looking at the battery itself, I see:
61217604802 12v 90Ah 720A 160rc 720cca the battery itself is white but when I look up realoem, it shows 60Ah, no listing for the 1er, and AGM |

I just ordered the bimmergeeks package with the cable, thor, and software. I have it downloaded on my phone, but am still waiting for the parts to arrive. I'm just trying to register/code my battery, but I have no idea what I'm doing. I just hope I don't fuck something up.

I had to replace the battery in my 2009 in February (2020). I just bought a battery at Walmart for about $120. They had two listed for the car and I got the bigger one. I had purchased a cable from bimmergeeks already and downloaded the free software. I used Tool32 to register the new battery. Only cost to code was for the cable. Wasn't hard. Biggest issue is the free software was made to run on a very out of date PC. So you have to run in emulation mode and sometimes still mess with settings. But once the software will run on your laptop, registration is not hard. To change the type or size of battery you have to run NCSExpert and I still haven't gotten it to write the modules to my laptop.

I finally got the app fully loaded and was messing around and deleted some error codes. They were something about kombi and dsc. Now I'm afraid of messing something up.
