Yeah, your snapshots, one is from amazon, and the other is from BMP's website. I get that BMP's is the same part number, but I wonder if the Amazon one might be designed a bit differently to warrant saying it's only for "next generation N55", which I assumes means EWG models?

You're prob right though, and I'll be grabbing one from amazon to put in the spare parts box.

Same. Is this applicable for N52 owners as well? Are there any visible signs that can help you identify if you're having an issue with this hose without having to tear around the engine bay?

N52 here. The hose looked 100% fine, but when I removed it the plastic fitting just crumbled, so it definitely was needed. This is just one of those things you gotta blindly replace.

On my N52, I had a leak a couple of years ago from where the coolant feed pipe (p/n 11-53-7-516-414) connects to the water pump, so replaced it. Still on the original water pump at 10 years and 60K miles.

I came out to my car with a big puddle of coolant under it one day. This hose just ate its self at that fitting. Mine broke inside of the hose were it clamps to the fitting and i could watch coolant steady drip from it. It was a relatively easy replace on the N52 alteast i didnt have to remove any other parts just disconnected a sensor near it. Although the hose clamp at the bottom coulda been positioned nicer

Exactly what mine looked like! When I pulled it out to uninstall it, chunks of the fitting still sat in the head while the rest of the hose was in my hand

Yep! That's a special thing huh?

The other variation is when it breaks on the inside. If you're lucky you see the leak before pieces of plastic get sucked into the cooling system...
