I have a pseudo track BMW, with a real limited slip, and I can compare pretty well. I'd definitely take the real LSD over the electronic variety, because who know what a program is going to do, compared to a mechanical device. No offense taken at all.

I just wanted to say that you should try it before dismissing it. It seems to work better than the Cayman's system, which admiteedly isn't that good of a LSD replacement. However, I was very surprised, as was my co-driver, who is a former SCCA national champ. There's no slug coming out of corners, and if you apply too much gas, you'll spin both, but you won't spin just one or get the throttle cut.

The electronics in the e82 are totally different for the eLSD mode (which does not even exist on the e9X cars).

Point taken - I will refrain from commenting on the eLSD until I drive it.

If I did get wheel spin, it was both rear tires, and I got some rotation out of the car using it, especially in the rain. it was a bazillion times better than my old e90 330i, which would just spin the inside tire when getting on it.
Larryn, I assume you ran with DTC/DSC off? Did you try with them on?

I'm at -0.6 left and right, with the alignment pins removed and stock ride height.

I never have any aids on that I can turn off.

If you DTC or DSC activated, the eLSD program doesn't work, and you spin your inside tire until the DSC kicks in and retards timing/throttle and you bog down. That's not a situation I want to be in at an autocross.

Oooof. In other words, nearly none. Bummer.

I haven't gotten down and dirty looking at the shock tower design. Are plates an option?
