Sequential flowing tail light turn signal??

Basically looking to see if there's just the signal I can replace or the whole thing, I don't care if I have to get a whole new tail light kit (would prefer not to because my 2013 128i already has super nice tail lights) but the sequential flowing signals are so nice I'm willing to spend the money on it

For there to be a sequence you need more than 1 light. That means the stock ones aren't going to work. You'd have to drill in and add some more bulbs.

Would I just be able to install an LED strip instead?

i was looking for a vid but cant find it.
i think the guy did it to E39 tail lights but memory is not helping me today.
anyway, i think the starting point is to actually open the lights. then when you are in and onto the silver reflectors you can start by measuring, making boards and then placing leds on or getting led strips to do the sequential lights for indicators and even led to all the lights.

And then just wire it to my left and right turn signal wiring?

Maybe try get a broken tail light from a scrap yard and start there.
Then you can experiment and see how to wire and hopefully make a diy guide that i can also use hahahahaha.

I have a spare set that i want to open up as the 1 light is cracked, but need a dremel to begin.

But im guessing you could maybe wire it to the board. The electrical guys here can advise best.

You shouldn't need a dremel, just an oven.

Heat the light till the glue softens, then pry apart whilst still hot

That is sick.

I wished I had seen this ages ago.

I'm sure they make sequential amber LEDs for the turn signals so this should be possible to do.

It'd be cool to have the blackline LCI tail lights do this sequentially with the LED "check" but that seems so complicated I wouldn't know where to begin. 🤔

I'm planning to tackle this before the end of the year. Going to have to buy a bunch of leds and a sequencer. Using this video as a guideline

BMW e82 Sequential turn, reverse lights kit

once you open up the light, you can pretty much do anything.
