Cavpilot2k, I really appreciate you doing this test. I've been looking to add the Dinan S2 on top of my PPK for a while but was worried that it might be a waste. Sounds like that is not the case!

Definitely not a waste! You will experience a notable increase in power and will lose zero sound (and possibly gain some, YMMV).

Maybe something has been lost in translation in all the posts, but a Dinan Stage 2 tune on a 1 series N55 certainly does add power regardless of whether you have a PPK or not.

The point of the post is really that the Dinan STage 2 flash does not 100% overwrite the previous tune, be it stock or PPK.

The net result being if you go stock to DInan, you'll get power and a little increase in sound.
If you go PPK to Dinan, you will retain the cool sounds (overrun pops and burbles) from the PPK.

I will still try to duplicate my test when I get some time and see if I can get it to pop like it did after the charge pipe install.

If you have a 135is, it came with the PPK already on it. So if you added Dinan Stage 2 to that, you would keep the excellent sound from the PPK and add the Dinan power. You will make more sound than someone who had a regular 135 and went stock to Dinan.

We all know the Dinan stage 2 tune makes more power, the question of this thread was do we retain PPK's sounds when we add the Dinan tune, and as far as I'm concerned, Cavpilot2k has answered that question with a resounding YES.

Side note on the throttle bog on 6MT cars. Its mostly associated with the DME code on clutch interruption. There have been some experiments on how to get around it, with success via disabling the clutch monitoring system, resulting in no bog, but nasty throttle sensitivity. MHD and Motiv have supposedly worked out a proper DME only solution which will be released in "two weeks". We'll see.

With DME bin files circulating more and more, it may be possible to include changed from MHD flashes to Dinan base bins. Not sure if they can be worked in tunerpro.

Still waiting for you to join the club, MMT. Especially now that we know all of the PPK sounds will still be there.

Literally 2 hours after taking car out of storage from the winter, some dick ass hit rear bumper, scratching it. Chose this time to fix the shitty paint match on right rear 1/4 from another body shop. Hopefully look like new again soon. Shop doing work is known for being best in the city. Only way I was able to get in there is because I am friends with someone who works there. Fingers crossed!!!

OK guys, I have read through this thread and still have a clarification question...

I have gathered that for guys with PPK that want to go to Dinan Stage 2, it is possible to retain the PPK tune and have both.

My question... If I have Dinan Stage 2 tune already and want to add PPK is this possible? Don't know if it will reset the Dinan tune, or from what I've gathered, is even available to get anymore.

Thanks for the help!

my understanding is that the Dinan goes with the my VIN. If for some reason my DME gets reflashed, the tuner will put my Dinan back on too.
