I know you can run map 1 while stock, but what are the increased chances of blowing out a charge pipe? I'm debating if I should wait until I have a charge pipe to run map 1. Car is a stock 2012 135i vert with 13,500 miles and all maintenance done. With all of the N55 CP failures, im almost ready to wait a week and buy a pipe.

Never a bad idea to replace the upper cold side piping. It's terrible, and appears to be more brittle on the 55s. Honestly you'll probably be OK, but for insurance i'd go ahead and replace it when budget etc permits.

Thanks for the input. I did several searches and most was conflicting info of "Yes, just replace it." Or "It's good insurance but most CPs bust for FBO cars." Just don't want to sideline my new purchase! I will add a chargepipe before I get my downpipe then and just use map 1 sparingly the next few weeks. I haven't ever owned a car that gets off the line like this. My 370 Nismo didn't remotely understand the concept of traction, and my 2 Evo's were great, but ate clutches like candy if you launched them. 1 addicts is a proper site name. This is definately an addiction!

I ran map 2 and 5 for a while with the stock CP.. Did fine but I was paranoid so I ran a bead of JB-weld along the seam on the CP that bursts... But then about a week later this happened:
So all-in-all i'd say just wait for that pipe.. lol
