Thanks!
As with most things on the internet these days, it looks like the walls are going up along with the price. When I last updated mine back in 2020, it was $80 to download the map file(s). Now the "experts" have switched to mailing out USB sticks (unless you email them and ask for the download instead). Google is your friend...

If you're interested, fill out the contact form on ycwengineering.com; they still sell a carbon fiber driveshaft for the 1M. Mine is still going strong.

Congrats on the pick up! BSM is rare and it has a great exhaust on it to start with. I would ditch those garbage tires and pick up some Pilot Super Sport 4s or even just regular super sports. It will transform the car, mine had go factory super sports that were just hard and replaced with some new 4S and they are perfect.

I have an AW 1M with 15k miles that I have owned for three years, added 4k miles. Since then on the side I have had an E36 M3, E90 M3, currently have a 330i ZHP... All in which I owned less than a year and have sold. The 1M has always been a garage queen, slight period of two months where I daily drove it, and to this day I have never really thought of selling it. I have tossed around the idea with the market slightly but never gotten close to listing it. The car is so special to me in regards to history, personal achievement, and finding a car these days with the personality and looks of the 1M, impossible.

I hope you truly enjoy it for what it is. It's no techy car as you already know, but the smiles you get when you start it up and then take it out... that right there is why you made the right choice and only time will show you that.

New pads and all fluids changed. Only issue I have with it is I’ve driven it everyday since I’ve owned it.

Congrats OP, nice find!
Addictive it is, for sure. I’ve owned my AW since new and never thought of selling.
Enjoy!

I have driven the F series M2 on and off the track. Awesome car. Although the 1M is pretty close in numbers to the F series M2 (haven't looked up the G series), those numbers are obtained by badass sometimes professional drivers.
But that's the thing. The M2 doesn't ask much from you. The 1M does and I have yet, probably never be a good enough driver, to get to those limits. One of the few last modern cars (definitely bmw) that asks plenty from the driver in exchange for being rewarded. Far more visceral. Good choice.

Just read this whole threat, OP welcome!!

I have a moderately modified track prepped (but still streetable) 1M and an F87 M2cs….out of the box the M2cs is faster and more capable hands down….but I can’t possibly part with the 1M. 65k miles including at least 25-30 track days, and I’m still in love with it despite all its quirks and constant maintenance neediness.

M2cs must be nice, looking at them is what pushed me to get a toy. The color combo I wanted, white black wheels and ceramics was a bit hard to find. The only two I saw were sub 1k miles and were over 115k, so looked at gt4 and when the HEA for the g87 arrived (had the number 1 allocation) I didn’t like it. The 1M came into the picture and fit my needs perfectly. I love the simplicity of the car and interior. I have some parts on order so it will be able to handle a trash day at Sebring. Don’t get me wrong the gt4 was very tempting but the ability to roll through the gears in the 1M is pure joy.

the 1M is so much more a classic BMW than the F/G87..
Good decision!
