Sucking sound, hole in valve cover
Hi everyone,
You may have seen some of my earlier posts about weird sounds after a valvetronic servomotor replacement. I've had issues with a "sucking" sound, as well as a "banging" sound. The banging sound was the injector getting loose, which I may or may not have fixed. Now that the banging sound is gone, I started the car up and it sounded perfect, though a little rough. Reset adaptations and the car seemed good. After it warmed up, it started making the "sucking" sound. It sounds like it's coming from around cylinder 2, and upon further inspection I found a hole in the valve cover. Could that cause the sound? Or is there a separate issue. I attached a picture of the whole as well as videos of before and after warmup. The injector wasn't rattling in the videos- when it does, it's a very clear "popping" sound that I can localize by feeling the fuel rails. The rails were very smooth in spite of the sound in the videos.

I would say yes, the hole could be the culprit.
If you’ve ever taken theoil cap off with the engine running, you’ll see why I’m saying yes. And… not uncommon for the valve cover to crack. That’s why some people opt to replace it with the gasket. |
