128i Facebook Group- thread move

Moved my thread from the general discussion since we all have a 128i. We really have been gaining in the members and would love feedback on there from the senior 128i members!

There is a 135i facebook group so some of us thought a 128i group should be created so we do not flood the 135i group with our info. 135i owners are welcome as well.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/bmw128i/" rel="ugc" target="_blank">http://<a href="https://www.facebook...s/bmw128i/</a>

If this needs moved to another discussion thread, mods please move.

I do follow this forum (128 N51/52 engine), but I'm not on "Facebook", and never will be. I think most men over the age of 50 probably aren't, either. Even after 44 years in IT, I firmly believe there is such a thing as being "too connected".

That HTML link isn't working correctly...

Had to get into the source code to get the URL. Just sent a request to join.

I deleted most of what put on FB, especially any photos that I've taken and I no longer post anything on Facebook. I stopped short of nuking my account altogether so that people could contact me if they couldn't otherwise.

Their advertising and promotion practices where they use your stuff to promote Facebook and/or their advertisers (without asking or even notifying you) was enough (sure you can wade through the myriad settings and "opt-out", but who has time for that), but the stories of people "digitally kidnapping" pictures of children for "BabyRP" and other perverted or otherwise creepy activities was just too much.

I've solved the advertising problem with Adblock Plus - it's available for Chrome, IE, and Firefox. Best free add-on ever! After installing, be sure to go to "settings" and un-check the box for "allow some non-intrusive advertising". Once done and the browser restarted, zero ads from any site - and if there are some items you'd rather not see, it will allow you to dynamically block them and add to the filter list.
