My God, my white 135's a dirt magnet!
My God, my white 135's a dirt magnet!
Anyone else finding that their white 135 has a remarkable affinity for dirt! I have owned many white cars in the past but NEVER a car to which dirt seems to stick, like this 135. I love the car, but hate the dirt. The weird thing is that I had a 335 peviously in Titanium Silver and getting the dirt off just required a high speed water spray. My white 135 though, needs a thorough brushing as the dirt seems to cling to the painwork with an almost manic determination. Grrrrrr! Do you guys have the same problem and is their any treatment I can give the car which will make it easier for the dirt to be rinsed off rather than be brushed off to within an inch of its death? :iono: |

The 1-Series body shape is cool-looking, but it captures a fair amount of dirt. Add to that the horrible brake dust that the brakes generate and it's a car that needs more attention than average.
But, relax... There IS a solution! Before I ordered my TiAg 'vert, I had a Jet Black coupe. So... I know about dirt on a 1-Series. Here's the solution... Purchase yourself some high quality detail supplies. I'll be brief here, but you will want to check out the detailing forums, as they have tons of valuable info. You'll need to get some wash products, detailer's clay, clay lubricant, polish, wax, microfiber cloths, and a few other items. I don't want to change this thread into a discussion about which products are better, but you will discover names like Griot's, Zaino, Meguire's, and others will be at the top of the preferred list. Bottom line here is that after you use the clay bar, polish, and wax or sealant, the car's surface will be exponentially more slippery and most dirt won't even stick to it. Eventually when it does start to get dirty, it will clean off easier, too!! Note: Make sure you wax your wheels, also... and the brake dust will clean up easier as well. I absolutely promise you that you will see a huge difference from doing this! And, the better job you do will bring you better results... and your beautiful car will look even more spectacular as well. Take care!!

I just did the wash, clay, rejex on my car yesterday, it cured overnight. We'll see. My AW too seems a dirt magnet.

TagMan is 100% spot-on. I waxed my car about a week and a half ago, and have been able to keep my vehicle nearly spotless with minor effort since. A little Wipe-n-shine for bugs after night drives (I've used Griot's Speed Shine) and today a quick, quick wash and dry with Griot's spray-wax. The car looks like it was freshly detailed, and it took all of 15 minutes.

:biggrin:I think a good spray detailer works wonders. A spray detailer that will reduce the static charge on the paint will help reduce dust to some degree.
I use Zaino products and it helps, but in the end the car will always need a wash

White and black - traditionally 2 of the hottest colours for most cars, but unfortunately the 2 that will look the dirtiest as well...
At least in the case of white, you won't have to worry about scratches and swirls etc. like with black, so can wash away as often as you like, but with black you need to be very careful... I've owned both black and white cars in the past and I would take hours to wash the black one, being very careful not to blemmish the duco, because of that I don't think I'll opt for black ever again, but would definitely have a white one again - it's much easier to look after  |

I'm biased - OK, I'm an addict. www.zainostore.com Love it, used it for years, swear by the stuff. It's still 90% procedure (wash your car correctly, every week at least, use the right towels, etc.) but Zaino is a great product and lasts an amazing amount of time once you go through the initial wash/clay/Z-AIO and/or Z-5 ritual. Honestly, I can get by with 4-5 months between Z-2 PRO applications now with just weekly washings and Z-6 detail spray/wipedowns. Great stuff - well worth the money IMHO.

The color of the car plays a huge roll on how easy it is to see the swirls.
