no man the sound is absolutely amazing, apparently 1er mufflers are resonators.. the guy that hacked off the muffler said its one of the quietest thing without a muffler..but defintely takes away from NA cars.. but for the 135i's they apparently add 12HP according to vividracing's muffler delete advertised for 749.99

Are you all talking about the centre muffler or the rear muffler that was removed?

I'm assuming the 128i has 2 mufflers like the 130i?

I dont know if anyone has done this on a 128i and I've done a bunch of research on the e90post site and listened to a bunch of clips of 328i's and I liked it. The only issue of course would be drone, but hell I'm willing to test it out. Just wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts. And for sure if I go tomorrow I'll post pics and video.
In the world of motorcycles, there is a cheap way to get a louder, and sometimes, nicer sounding exhaust.
If you're going to ditch the stock muffler, or if you can find a used one for cheap, try gutting it by cutting holes in the inside baffles.
You can use some circular metal cutting drill bits with long extensions to get to the baffles from the inlet and outlet sides.

If you can find a diagram of the inside of a stock muffler that will give you some idea of where to drill. Basically, you're trying to get more exhaust out by opening up the available exhaust ports, and creating new ones.

I've done this a couple of times on some bikes. I've used a 1" and 1.5" circular bit. Don't drill into the muffler, the idea is just to drill into the inner baffles that create restrictions by creating chambers in side the muffler so that the exhaust pulses have to run through a sound damping gauntlet.
If you can find a path that can open a new path between chambers, you can end up with a louder tone, and luckily, a better tone.

It's a cheap thing to try as you wait to get a new setup.
