My Ipod adapter seems...

to be broken. Was working properly when I picked up the car and now it won't hold at one song. Keeps skipping through and sounds like a scratched cd. Hope this is a minor fix. Gonna call service tomorrow. Ouch.

hey can you give feedback on the ipod connection? in my car i like to keep my ipod on shuffle with all songs in the rotation. And then I just use the steering wheel buttons to switch to the next song if I don't want to hear the song being played anymore. Also, my ipod connection charges the ipod and is through the digital port only. Its an after market one that cost me $180 so i expect the bmw one for a whopping $400 to at least handle these functions.

Is the bmw the same?
-can it handle the shuffle and can you switch to the next song through the steering wheel controls or radio controls at least?
-is it charging the ipod?
-is the sound coming out of the digital port, or do you have to use the headphone jack?

Yes the adapter charges the Ipod. Yes you can switch to the next song with the steering wheel controls. I haven't tried shuffle yet but I would assume it would work just as if you load up a album. I loaded up a playlist and it allowed me to switch songs with the steering wheel control. The sound is coming out of the digital port! It sounds pretty amazing. Just make sure you adjust the internal volume (which is done through your settings on the radio or idrive if you have navi) to the middle. I had it set all the way up and the sound came out very distorted. The sound system is amazing! Is there any way to show what volume the system is at?

You navigate to the song and push the knob down when the song is selected. There are several options. One of them is "Random." You check that and you get the songlist to shuffle. Otherwise, not. Not even if "shuffle" is selected on the iPod itself.

The digital port you refer to is actually the line out (analog). Still good quality, though.
